If you are currently in a Legion you will also see an Enemy Bases button on the battle tab. If you have 100% Legion Loyalty (i.e. you have been with the legion more than one week) you can participate in a base attack, which may reward you with Silver Badges, and for bases level 4 or higher, you can raid the base after it is disabled, with the chance to receive a Base Crate.

Base Scanning
Every 8 hours, loyal members of a legion can scan for and attack another legion's base. Since this can only be done once every 8 hours per legion, this can be restricted to just officers or leaders so they can plan the best time for the attack.
To find a base, go to the Battle Tab and click Enemy Bases. Here you can spend 5 Red Badges to target a randomly chosen base (no chance of failure on the scan).
The badge cost to scan can be reduced by:
- 1
Red Badge for each Command Beacon (88
GP each, limit 3] on the legion's base
- 1
Red Badge if you have a complete set of 3 Penta-Seek Targeters.
Minimum Level Scan-able = ROUNDUP( Your Base's Level / 2)
Your Base Level | Minimum Enemy Base Level |
---|---|
3 | 2 |
4 | 2 |
5 | 3 |
6 | 3 |
7+ | 4 |
If you do not want to attack that base, you can pay additional red badges again to lose that target and target a different random base. NOTE: Clicking outside of the scan window, closing the window, refreshing the browser, or clicking an NPC/Player/Planet alert will make you lose your scan if you haven't locked it in yet
Once you have chosen your target you can lock on and the legion can start attacking. The base lock will expire in 8 hours.
If you have a Battle Pact with another legion, their legion members will also be able to attack the base.

Note that the figures in this chart do not take into account the 2% bonus to the base's attack / defense / cloak for each active legion member, any base ability bonuses, or the installation of any charged exo-clamps or Chuhn Xondrite Adapters.
There is a limit of 12 of each class of researchable standard base modules that can be built (e.g. no more than 12 attack modules).
The maximum shield values are double the base values from the researched shield mods for the base as they can be upgraded with the use of T.O. Resistor Overcharges.

2 | 60 |
3 | 120 |

Base Defense
Since the base receives a 10% Base Defender Bonus to production for each day since the base was last disabled, up to 100%, when your base is locked, you will want to try to defend.
Outside of base combat abilities (outlined in the following section), base defenders can try to target members of the attacking legions that they can find on their own battle tabs. Disabling them is best, but you can also throw offensive artifacts like Containment Missiles and Disarming Bombs.
Any legion members with spare Silver Badges can boost up the base hull using Charged Exo-Clamps and Overcharged Exo-Clamps. Others with a Sphere of the New Era or Ethereal Shell might consider switching race or profession to Lazuli or Fixer or both. Legion members could also spend 20 GP to change race or profession, but that is generally a last recourse.
Base Combat Abilities
There are multiple abilities that improve base defense and attack, but the most significant ones to focus on are Auxiliary Fortifications (which boosts hull based on the number of loyal Lazuli or Fixer in legion, and the Emergency Repair which repairs 3% of the base hull for each loyal Fixer. Remote Intrusion should be reserved for use in the final 2 hours of a base lock.

Base Raids
Bases that are level 4 and higher can be raided for 'Base Crates' after they are disabled. Unlike ship raids, bases do not lose anything for being raided - it is merely a reward given to ships for its defeat.
Raiding bases works differently than raiding ships, however:
- Each ship that has dealt damage to the base can normally attempt ONE raid on the base after it has been disabled. A failed base raid can be re.attempted using a charge from a Vearon Casino. A successful base raid can be followed up by a 2d raid attempt using the Cuniculus, Lepus Adjutant ally's Bio-Con Aspect ability.
- The chance of a successful raid is determined by each player's final placement on the Combat Log.
- Raiders and those with other % bonuses to raiding (such as Protean Hulls or Systematic Avarice), will have their success chance increased proportionally.
Base Raid Chance Calculation
The exact formula is disclosed in this forum post by DF:
raid chance =
100 * (1 - [(DR - 1) / (BL - 1) / 10]) * 1.07^PARM * 1.09^PARS * 1.08^DNG * 1.2^AVAR * 1.3^RP * 1.1^THALLY
where:
DR = damage rank
BL = base level
PARM = number of protean armouries
PARS = number of Protean Arsenals
DNG = 1 if darmos nerve gas effect is active, otherwise 0
AVAR = 1 if systematic avarice UST effect is active (during Scruuge seasonal event), otherwise 0
RP = 1 if raider profession, otherwise 0
THALLY = 1 if Thraccti ally is above rank 60, otherwise 0
- NOTE: this calculation uses the base level Thraccti ally. the upgraded Thracti VII provides a 22% raid bonus instead of 10%).
Basic Base Raid Success Table
Note that base raid chances for level 7, 8, 9, and 10 bases are the same as for level 6. see forum topic.

Base Crates
Added in the 5th September 2011 update, legion Bases (level 4 and higher) that have been disabled can be raided. A successful base raid provides players with a base crate, where the level of the base crate awarded depends on the level of the base being raided. Once you have the base crate in cargo, opening the crate will provide a variety of special materials and artifacts.
(BC=base crate, LBC=large base crate, MBC=massive base crate, CBC=colossal base crate)
