I would suggest dropping most of your scan mods (not the voliir ones), most of your cloak mods, and all of your shield mods. With the space that would give you, install both remaining hull mods, and both guns if there is enough room. After that focus on getting all 8 defense mods, then start adding in shields, scan, and cloak. That is how I planned my ship. Also get your mining up so you can switch to fixer or excavator or something like that.

ok, i was hoping to keep the scanning and cloaking mods as it took me a while to aquire all of them! but i think you are right about the mining! also the shield mods are generally quite useful i find... unless you have a specific reason why they should be removed?

Because hull is far more efficient for each space taken on your ship. Also, he isn't saying scrap every scan mod you have come across, just uninstall them, sell the researched ones, and focus on combat. Unless you are hacking or going on a scan blitz, you will be way better off using only combat mods.

Yeah, that is definitely going to hinder you a bit, if you can abandon them it'd be for the best. Try not to colonize anything smaller than Very Large, or Large if it has good production, and really anything under Very Rich isn't worth the cost, exception being gas if it's a VM, even then no less than rich.

But I'd take mine with a pinch of salt. Your attack/defence seem okay, though nothing special. I would like to point out, however, that while you have Null Rays, I have more attack with Antiprotons and I'm not Konqul either. Tech levels are highly overrated. You also need your last 2 hulls...

My more important stats:
Space: 1541 / 1543
Hull: 10303
Attack: 3010
Defense: 4408
Upkeep: 462.8M

I'd recommend switching to Konqul Excavator.

I saw flaws in your ship, bit you quashed them in you last sentence. Good job!
I'd recommend losing Miner ASAP. Switch to Excavateur or Fixer. Konqul is a solid choice, you could stay with that if you want.

When I say get rid of them, I mean just uninstall them unless they are researchable ones, sell those. And as far as the shields are concerned, hull is a lot more efficient space wise than shields, so you should always max hull before you start adding shields.

Work on getting your arti up, take off your scan/cloak mods, max out on attack and hull first then work on your defence, work on getting the next planet buildings and scan mods it'll help a lot more in the long run to have better planets and better productions, slow rank and get your arti production up and your ship will significantly improve, hope that helps!

And this. And Null rays are totally worth it, in my opinion, if you can afford the upkeep on them. I would guess that it would be tough to maintain at a rank below 150 or so though.

Also, I point this out: You don't need 1k max energy all the time. Take the longest period you'll be offline, and see how much energy you'll gain in that time period. Give yourself about 100 max energy over that, to compensate for imperfections in your schedule. So say you regen about 60 energy an hour, and at max you're offline 10 hours; give yourself 700 max energy.

There's no point in having portions of your energy bar that go unfilled. Just remove a few lesser modules (cloaking, scanning, maybe a *couple* of NPC-Drop/Mission-Module defenses) to make space for energy when you're going to use some energy refills for NPCing or about to rank.
