I have twice failed to invade a defensless planet.

The planet was a tiny icy, with no defenses, attack, or cloak. I had an attack of 375. So, I invaded it last night and failed with a 90% chance. Then I tried again tonight and failed critically with a 90% chance. I mean WTF, right?

I understand planetary invasions to be the total defense and attack of a planet multiplied by three. The invaders attack is then divided by that number to get a percentage which shows your invasion chance. Since the planet had 0 defenses and weapons, how could it possibly defeat my attack of 375... twice?
Have there been new rules introduced?

A big fat green badge. ;) The other guy is fairly low ranked, so I was hoping he would invade it back...

Ok, ok lol I won't invade it, thanks Gert.

But I would still like to know if anyone else has experienced this sort of thing, or if there been new rules introduced regarding invasions of defenceless planets?

ok.. i'll correct you... it's WASTE, not WAIST

but you're right... unless you've made arrangements with the other person to steal the planet back and forth for green badges, there's no reason going after such a horribly poor planet

I failed with 90% chance on a very massive gas research rich planet...it had no def/attack/pop bonus I had 8 guns, 7 were the highest I could put on, had a crimson obelisk...oh and I lost a crew member....

on a planet w/ 0 atk and 0 def... it doesn't matter how high or low your attack is.... if the planet is occupied by someone, you still have a maximum 90% chance to invade...

That's basic probability for you. When you have 90% chance of success it also means that you have 10% chance of failure.
You could fail 10 time in a row. The probability for that happening is wery low, but entierly possible.

Why the maximum chance on invasion is set to 90% is a question to game developeres.
I personally think that an undefended planet (no defence or attack structures) should give a 100% success rate. As soon as there are some defences on the planet I think a 90% max is nice for the poor defender.

This topic belongs in the "Suggestions & Ideas" as there really is no issue failing 2 times when you "only" have a 90% chance of success.

you only failed 2 times in a row ok statistical it happens 1% of the time

but i got a better story
i failed to take the same planet with no defense and no building on it what so ever 4 times in a row and i even alerted it to my legion and 2 of them gave it a try and still the planet is in enemy hands, we gave up after one of my comrades criticaly failed and lost a engeneer...

i would complain about it to the game devs but honestly the statistical likely hood of such an event is so low that i am sure my post would be dismissed as a statistical anomaly...

i do however strongly think that unless the planet has some defenses or offensive buildings critical fails should be entirely out for planet invasion do the the detrimental effects on they cause...

Reminds me of this anti-vaxxer I hear say "No amount of science will ever convince me X doesn't cause Y".

The only way you can challenge probabilities is to collect data. GOOD data. Not just random anecdotes about how you failed. You also have to include all the times you succeeded. You need LOTS of samples.

Clearly you lack will of warrior. You lose before you even begin. I have will of warrior, want to fight? Haha, I win because I have will of warrior! Rematch? Ok I win again!
