Preika: Words cannot express our gratitude for your efforts in stopping the Ventar.
They were a good crew, but their goals were misguided.

Preika: We realize the catalyst for its decision to pursue such technology.
Their mission was to find new ways to travel through the Expanse.

Preika: As you will no doubt continue to try. To that end, we feel that a compromise is necessary.
Agreed. What do you have in mind?

Preika: The council would like to formulate an agreement to allow exclusive travel and trade rights within the Expanse.
We would welcome such a pact.

Preika: As part of the agreement, we will share technology that will help your ships navigate the Expanse, with the understanding that it not be shared with other races.
What do we offer the Uldrinan in return?

Preika: In addition to new trade requirements, you and your government will release any further claim to the Ventar and any related data.
What for? It was destroyed.

Preika: Enough remnants remain that will allow for partial recovery of technology, but it will take considerable time.
Most of its knowledge will be lost for good, even to us.

Preika: Yes, but we must do what we can to prevent such an incident from potentially occurring in the future.

Preika: We knew a day would come where we would have to share our borders, but certainly not in my lifetime.
I imagine it must be difficult for your people.

Preika: Yes, but they see the bigger picture. The benefits of living within a protected zone come with great costs and sacrifice.
Exclusive trade will be a boon for the both of us.

Preika: Yes, but we do this for our longevity and survival. The economic benefits are a notable bonus.
Preika, I've been curious. What would have happened if the Ventar had been successful?

Preika: It would have been devastating. Without our energy supplies, our civilization would have starved and withered.
