Shields are a critical aspect to any space vessel, as is obvious in most video games involving space ships. In Galaxy Legion, shields act as a second layer of health on top of the hull. While shield generators take up more space than hull modules and provide fewer hit points (Making them less space-efficient), shields automatically recharge over time when they take damage, which gives them a noticeable edge over Hull during prolonged combat. Certain modules can also reduce the recharge time (Thereby increasing the repair rate), making shields even more effective during prolonged combat.

They can also have a slight psychological effect against attackers, as players are more likely to stop attacking you if they keep damaging your shields, rather than your Hull. Five standard Shield modules can be installed at one time. Additional special Shield modules can also be discovered or salvaged.

Researchable Shield Systems

The following Shield modules are unlocked by conducting research into Shield systems. They automatically become available to build once the prerequisite technology has been researched.

Discoverable or Salvageable Shield Recharge Systems

These Shield systems specifically improve the rate at which your existing shield systems recharge (Repair) by reducing the amount of time between "ticks" by several seconds per module. They can be found by completing missions or defeating certain NPC's in combat.

Mission Completion Reward Shield Systems

These Shield systems are gained through completing a certain number of missions. Only one of each is available per player. Once received, they cannot be uninstalled, but they do not take up any deck space nor do they have any upkeep costs.

Common Artifact Shield Upgrades

The following single-use artifacts can be used to improve the strength of your Shield systems, usually on a temporary basis unless otherwise stated. They can be found randomly by cashing in your hourly artifact hauls.

Note: uninstall your relays, uninstall any weapon modules that drain energy, equip all of your best power cores, equip all of your best shields, and equip all of your best hull modules BEFORE you use the Tri-Matrix Emblem to get the maximum energy recharge, shield recharge, and hull repair possible from this artifact.
