The Trading Guild, as well as the council, has decreed a new priority: A dedicated shipping lane that will need passage through the Slip-Fields... with the assistance of secretive research.
Mission Dialog:
Keln: It seems the Ventar will prove useful after all...
I thought the Ventar was...
Keln: Destroyed? Indeed it was. We never revealed to the others that we kept the data... that we continued to study it in hiding...
You kept the research??!
Keln: Much of it. In secret.
That research is dangerous... It could be used to collapse the expanse.
Keln: Yes. Well, only portions of it. Still, The Trading Guild has been discussing the potential of such an outcome. If used carefully.
What? How so?
Keln: A powerful structure. Kept hidden. Tuned properly, it can weaken a portion of the Slip-Fields. A sliver. A lane through the coreward part of the expanse.
For a trade route?
Keln: Precisely. We would have the protection of the expanse, along with the benefits of new trading partners...

Keln: The other races would not know the full truth. Only that the lane exists.
What other precautions are being taken?
Keln: Study of the Ventar's data has also revealed ways to protect the Slip-Fields from a full collapse... should the structure malfunction, or if the research fell into the wrong hands.
What is the plan for the route?
Keln: We begin construction immediately. I will relay a requisite of materials and parts. We will need to remain incredibly discreet.
