Planetary Cloaking

During scanning, there is a first roll to check if the scan was successful. If it was, a random planet is picked from the galaxy. If the planet that was picked has cloaking, then a 2nd roll takes place.

If the planet's cloak is greater than the ship's scan rating, the scan will fail.

If the ship's scan rating is greater than the planets cloak, than the formula is as follows: CHANCE = (1 - (PLANET CLOAK / SHIP SCAN))

So, if the planet has 2000 cloak, and the ship's scan is 5000, then there is a 60% chance the scan will be successful.

There are traps available (Drannik Swarm etc) and measures to prevent a flux (Exo-Rift Repulsor, Vortex Deflector). Cloak is only one line of defense, and relying on it exclusively is not a guarantee of protection.
