The best idea I could come up with to balance the effects of a planet flux when it was used in an offensive manner was to make it so the notification that said "XXXplanet was taken over by XXXplayer!" would make both the planet name and the player name a 24-hour notification that you couldn't actually re-share. The only other side to this, to make it fair, would be to make it so you can't notify a planet when it is a "new colony". Somehow maybe a "liberated" colony would be automatically "peaked" or whatever it may have been before so the liberator would have the chance with their share if they can get it back.
I think in a 24 hour span, that you would hopefully be able to take it back with the help of an unstable warp gate and a load of energy. If it is stacked with defense, population or attack structures then that might be the only factor that makes it so the strong have somewhat of a right to pick on the weak, considering everyone sleeps.

The original share of a planet that was actually shared could still make things "interesting" for everyone for 12 hours, though guarding lasts forever.... This is a somewhat complex issue. I'm interested mostly in ways to take organized groups out of it because of how planets can be bought and sold and the help can be ridiculous.

Actually, I like the idea even more after thinking about it. The preemptive sharing of something would make it twiddle down to a deathmatch instead of some "1 on 1" ordeal in quite a dramatic fashion as long as the 'rules' stated above were in effect. The share would expire, credits would be wasted. Mayhem on a player scale where groups have little to do with it. The "guarding" being potentially infinite is somewhat ridiculous still. I might not personally care since I have a kajillion warp gates and usually operate outside of the peak activity hours. Actually this would get rid of that too for the most part if "new" colonies just can't be notified even if they are "liberated". The exceptions of any scenario could make it tricky to implement.
