 Chance of Failure Missions

Note, I did a search of the site using the word failure. If there is a topic about this already, I am sorry, I did look.

I realize that chance of failure missions are supposed to be a gamble? I've lost over 1000 energy so far on them, most of the time, the failure is in the last 10% of the mission.

Example: Today, Dangerous Rescue, I failed on the last (15th) mission meaning I spent 240 for nothing. (The energy to experience is pretty weak so it is not even like that helped). If this were a once or twice problem, I would be ok with it. However, I've failed that 3x, all at 13 of 15 or higher done.

I've had this happen in Research Espionage multiple times and other missions. It is getting to be a bit frustrating. My suggestion is to change the amount of clicks to level up a mission.

Example: Dangerous Rescue is 15 missions repeated 10 times. I think it would be better if it were 5 missions done 30 times. The energy spent is still the same but this would allow us to still have a chance to fail and lose energy but at the same time not have wasted SO much when there is a failure.

Thanks for listening.

The game is still balanced, as you have lost so much my failures always happen in first missions. However I would agree that it is better to shorten completion/mission ratios.

Im currently doing the mission "Starbase Royale" costs 40 energy and 50000 credits.
i have so far managed to complete 10/20 completions, but this one seems to have very high failurerate, closer tp 60-70% risk of fail, ive been on this mission for days maybe even over a week so far :P

Unless you have finished off all other missions, there doesn't seem to be much reason to do those "chance of failure" missions. They generally don't have any better rewards than other missions, usually give less EXP for the energy, and can be very frustrating when the mission fails. Of course, if you like the challenge/gamble, then go ahead and do them all. :)

About 60% of the missions I have left are CoF missions. I plan on leaving them for last (especially with that new 2 week mission), it would just be nice if I could get rid of them.

Plus, assuming not failure, they tend to be low amounts of energy needed to finish.

I guess Im lucky, the only mission with chance of fail I ever failed was the one where you had to diffuse an Omicron bomb(cant remember name). I only failed that one twice, then never failed any mission again.

Very lucky, I just failed 2 more times tonight.

Seconded here.

Make the missions less lengthy per increment completion. 5 click times to finish one completion instead of 15 clicks, but up the completion number from 10 completions to 20 or so to "finish" the whole mission.

One thing I found about the fail missions. While they might take longer ect... There is a good chance to get more XP and what ever they offer (if there is a chance per time done) that you could get more out of it. So long as the rewards match the fact that I failed even just a little I feel ok redoing it.

Simpler solution would be 'instead' of resetting the chain to 0/10 or 0/15, set it so that the mission cannot be attempted again for 24 hours and you start at the point you failed at.

Dangerous Rescue:

Instead of the chancellor died, you get the hijackers move the chancellor to a secure location so you have to spend some time to find out where he was moved to.

Coercing the Coalition:

Instead of a positive vote, you get one of the Senators sends the motion to closed committee for a while.

Starbase Royal:

Upon seeing you lose, one of the bouncers kicks you out. It will take some time for you to make a new disguise and try again.

Stolen Research:

Instead of losing because you didn't catch the ship, you have to spend some time to 'relocate' the ship.

Escaped Fugitive:

Instead of failing, you have to spend some time to find his new hiding spot because he slipped through your hands.

Espionage Research:

Instead of failing the mission chain, set it so that you have to have '5' more cloaking to do the mission again (may or may not take 24 hours or more to accomplish).

Just suffered victimization from Coalition Coercion -- made it to 13/15 (676 energy) then failed.
Second to last attempt I made it to 14/15 (728 energy) then failed.
Last attempt I made it to 5/15 (260 energy) then failed. (guess I just don't learn well)

I just lost 1456 energy, almost an entire days worth, on one of these failure missions. I didn't get a single completion. The worst being a failure on the 15th out of 15. It doesn't get any worse than that!

Yeah, I think Transporting the Bomb is the only one that's really worth it, I'm saving the ones I have for last (which will be quite a while from now...).

They're all worth it when you are 7 missions away from the final rewards tier. 12 more energy an hour is a big bonus.

I don't like them either but at least the missions that you lose energy on, you get completions and you can get a ball park on what it will cost in energy worst case scenario.

IE, The Krionite Vortex costs a min of 10,100 energy if you have no losses or a max of 13,100 if you had all losses.

Yes, that's why I'm saving them for last.

And you can do that with ones with a chance for additional energy loss but not the ones with a chance of failure. I know I've gotten really close to completing Collective Coercion and failed near the end quite a lot, I've yet to get one completion.

So yes, save all the others for last, but the Quantum Bio-Vaporizers can be really useful and I didn't fail that one too many times.

And don't forget the Political Favor missions. Those can be very useful for some cool stuff.

The Chance of Failure should be changed to "Failed the attempt. No experience or mission progression. Try again." and cost you the energy for that click without resetting the whole mission back to 0 / xxx clicks.
