You've got to find an enemy Zolazin ship in your battle tab and defeat it. Since there are only two NPC combat slots though, if you haven't got one in your slots, then you've got to defeat whatever ships are already there first, and it may take several tries before one shows up.
Spoiler Below:
I've got a Zolazin Phantom XI on my screen at the moment. Level 70, 350 attack, 300 defence, 200 shields, 400 hull. Their ships look pretty cool. Defeating a Zolazin ship only gives you ONE debris when you defeat it though - so you need to defeat 30 Zolazin ships to totally complete this mission. Hardly anyone is going to be able to do that.
End Spoiler.
The Zolazin mission has a really good XP ratio though, so it's worth trying to do. 65 XP for 5 energy. That's 13 XP for every energy spent. Best mission I know of.

I have found npcs to be incredibility overpowered and the zolazin even though they are 'quest' npcs are not common as indicated. The real problem is the nerf based on hull size -- a zolazin with 200 attack does 44 damage to my hull even though I have a 200 defense due to the new feature based on the size of your ship.

Anyone know which is easier to defeat ?
1] Tech Cruiser 2] Drannik Sentry
I am only a 56 Rank with low ship strength, Not sure if this mission is even worth a trial effort.

Tech Cruisers have a ton of shields, but very few weapons. You can do a lot of damage to them, and receive very little damage in exchange. But they can take a sustained beating. I can kill them in two hits once their shields are down though.
Dranniks have much better stats, but less shields and hull. They can't take anywhere near as much damage, but they deal a hell of a lot more back.
So it's your choice really. If you can afford the energy, go for the Tech Cruiser. You'll also get a nice bonus from defeating them. If you're more combat oriented though, go for the Drannik. I've never had a bonus from killing a Drannik though.

New DEFENSE feature based on ship size ? Wow, I only have half your defense.

I am in the same boat, I have disabled 4 NPC ships and still dont have a Zolazin ship. I was worried about getting the 30 pieces need to complete the chain. Now I am getting worried that I wont be able to get 10 pieces just to complete it once.
Dan should have had a 3rd NPC slot with one Zolazin ship always in it. I have been saving energy cubes but used all 5 of them trying to get one ship to show. This is getting really old.
Does anyone have the states to this device? because I starting to wonder if it is even worth it.

Same boat and it's leaking due to the random NPC shots.

The reward
Spoiler Below:
The Glaviz Elders use this device to shape shift into the forms of deities worshiped by their people. This elaborate political trickery has come to an end. When activated, it will allow you to change your race and profession.
I'm more interested in the stuff I got from killing those uncommon NPC's along the way. They drop nice artifacts. I got four that I've never seen before. I would suggest to have the NPCs randomly change everyday instead of gambling to kill one, only to see another of the same thing. I find it to be too much of an effort.

For me not only is energy an issue so is hull repairs, I've spent 15 GP on hull repairs trying to clear slots and I've only gotten through 1 NPC ship that I was already working on, and one additional ship -___- I can last 8 round now against an NPC so yay I learned something about setup, but It takes easily 10-25 attacks to kill an NPC (50 to 125 energy and 2-3 hull repairs). I agree we need a special slot for zolazin ships, I don't even know if I will be able to defeat them as 'easily??' as I did these NPC ships, so to collect even 10 seems like it would be an ordeal over the course of a single week, I think I would have trouble completing the mission completely even with a 3rd slot and judicious usage of GP to renew hull or energy to make it there all things considered. =/ sorry to be all QQ here mates.

But in all fairness, zero directions from 3 eye DEV DAN has definitely achieved my loss of respect for Galaxy Legion ! If however, the Zolazins do reside where depicted, IMHO that ratio of seeing a Zolazin is just a dead brain cell probability creation by a DEV trying to sell Gaxaxy Points.

I'm not a developer, and i've seen two Zolazin ships so far. Dan isn't trying to make people buy points at all. It's a challenge, and the high level players will appreciate it. These missions will likely be added as standard missions at a future date anyways.
Just keep trying, they will show up eventually.

From what NPC's? I've killed two smugglers and a techie so far trying to find a zolazin, and all I've gotten has been experience, plus some research points from the techie (which don't help since I'm maxed on research for the next 8 levels... ).

Not to be a winer or a #*&$ webguy dan but could you maybe increase the instances for these ships? I'm like a 110 level ship and I cant find one of these darn things to kill. The NPC ships are a little overpowered as well what with the 5 minute re-charge to repeir your ship this will take FOREVER

Sure - by tomorrow we can add some additional spawns and perhaps overlap some of the lower level Zolazin spawns into higher level availability as well. How many NPCs have you killed so far?

I am L 75 I have killed 4 NPCs with no zolzan, the hull repair wait is really QQ sloooooow I ended up using about 15 GPs on hull and 10 on energy in an effort to plow through several NPCs but they are monsters to take down at my level.
If the intention is for NPCs to only be fought by higher level guys or for this mission to be for higher level people I'd rather not even see it, instead of trying to achieve the impossible, it makes my feel gypped.
