screw defense, I already have wideband scanners researched just not all the way through the levels, just finished deep extraction, Also, here's the reason why I fail so much, at the beginning of the game all I researched was energy, I ranked up faster than the rate of everything else, but seriously, there are people a higher rank than me that I can easily kill with my ranking config on.
Also, when did you reach zero point energy in research?

ur good on energy. honestly, the thing u need most is hull. im rank 99 and have overcharged Q-phased plating. also, as you clearly havent been doing this... PUT ALL YOUR RANK POINTS INTO DECKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cannot express the importance of this enough. your cargo is fine, and decks r better than tactical officers etc. work on those two things 1st, then once ur done with a couple hull ranks do planetary production

well I was stupid at the beginning of the game and put them into engineers, at least I have better raiding chances .

Dude... You only have manuevering thrusters, they can barely defend your ship, a rank 30 can take your ship out in 3 shots. Easily. You only 210 Hull, I have 4150, others at Your rank have at least 1000 Hulll
I had microwarp nacelles at your rank which is 4 entire levels higher than manuevering thrusters



Scanners are one of the most important technologies in the game. They are needed to find good planets. I had Quantum Resonance sensors at your rank. Which is 3 entire levels higher

If those two are your best planets. Your need ALOT of help.



I doubt it. You'll probably have to repair yourself dozens of times to rank up once. 210 Hull is paper hull.

Look. If your not following what everyone else is telling you, might as well reset your account and start all over. But it's probably not too late to save yourself. Find away to abandon all your average/abundant/sparse planets, Research Scanners, Hull, Defence and Structures.

I can only pray you do these stuff, cuase as you rank up and if you're not ready and everyone figures out you still have 210 hull, the world may not be so forgiving...

And like i said, it's not too late to save yourself, Research Hull Defence Structures and Scanners. I'll happily provide you with help. I'm sure more will. Just do some random surveys and they drop handfuls of FB CR and you can use them to abandon your crap planets. Or, you can leave you crap planets defenceless and wait for someone noobier to take to them from you.
Research scanners Till Subspace Sensors and then go on a scanning spree, Colonise/Invade the Best planets there.

With your boosted planet production. Research Hull. At least get Durtanium Plating (the one after whipple plating) After that, Get Level 5 Facillities. Again upgrade all your planets and get Defence. Continue adding Decks.
By this time, you will reached at least average.
Your hull will be at like 700
Planet production will improve, hard to say how much, depends what you find.
Your Defence will Increase alot.

and also, get a glaviz device (the glaviz incident, 3rd mission in) if you do not already have one and switch to vygoid. or whatever the research race is, im too lazy to check. and if spy is a profession with the vygoid, become it so you can stay off at least some people's battle tabs

I can't find any damn research planets above abundant, and the other planets push research off with their other resources because it's usually artifact planets that have good research and my artifact mining is horribly low. I refitted everything though and got research up to 666 per hour
recently I've never been attacked unless it was a retaliation from something.

Oh yes that too, With Vygoid and Excavator Bonus, Your planet Production with improve alot too.
+20% Research
+10% Artifact

Look man, everything Commonwealth is telling you is straight up true. There is a reason is he the lowest ranked player in the Dysonians. He got accepted because he knows what he is doing.

can't find any good research planets that isn't being pushed off by another resource that are larger than small and rich or greater. I only have like 1 or 2 of those.

Thats why you research scanners, Wideband scanners barely find any planets, same with multiwave, subspace sensors find a few.

There's a spot in Coadym if you want some help. I can pass you artifacts direct and creds if you need them. I'm not one of the super high rank players. Rank 307. Coadym are a growing Top 50 legion.

Here's some tips which I hope will; help your game.

Tip 1 - you need better planets. Research scanners and be willing to burn some energy. I assume you know how to do a scan blitz.

All resources are important but at your level mining is the least important. In my opinion research looks like the thing you need to work on. You should get a few decent research planets once you do a good scan blitz. There's lots of gas ones.

I favoured a high research strategy throughout the game. My research production fills my rank capacity in 5.5hrs. Get yours to how often you login into the game at the very least.

Artifact is important too but you really need to boost your research a lot. Mining becomes important when you start installing Intra-D/Null Rays. Esp if you kill NPCs because ship repair costs become high.

Tip 2 - engineers are useful. Initially I thought this game was like Mafia Wars so put rank point into engineers and wasted some on engineers and tactical officers before I realised ship size was vital. Then I threw all my rank points into ship build but I had 200 engineers so I could rank up faster. Since my ship reached massive levianth I have thrown all my rank points into energy.

At lower levels I wouldn't suggest putting rank points into anything but ship or energy depending on your strategy.

Tip 3 - if you don't play PvP or can handle getting disabled then don't worry too much about your defence or hull.

If you're interested in PvP then I suggest killing NPCs. Good NPC ships have great PvP potential. Your tech isn't ready for you to start on NPC killing.

In my opinion this game is focused a lot on the quality of your ship but if you read the forums you'll see players have different strategies.

Tip 4 - you might not have made the best start but you can catch up later. I made a lot of mistakes in the game like not researching into shields so I had poor planet defence structures (still do for my rank but had to push into weapons tech for our base...then found out that Quasi-chaotic tech can only be installed on a level 5 base...which totally messed with my research plan). I hunt NPCs but didn't get the extra slots from the Zolazin chain till I'd killed about 6-7k. That's really dumb. I still haven't changed to Builder even though I hunt NPCs so can't install the tech I want because ship costs are too high (I just can't give up my 10% arti bonus!).

I've still managed to build a decent ship. I'm rank 307 now with a Planetary Quality Index above 230 (I'm Vygoid Excavator). I'm not big on PvP but am a savage grand legend. Not many missions done but I've got most of what I need from them. The bonuses from NPC hunting are better.

Tip 5 - find and contribute to a good legion. At lower levels the resources from the legion production bonus is really valuable. Coadym's players get 7000 research points extra. You could throw that into energy to get better relays if you're a mission player or better weaps if you want to go PvP or NPC. Of course there are other good legions out there too.
