Given that these are common and there low teckpart drop rate. Think of it this way, they might hourd them, but when they go they take most of the parts with them. I would be happy if they had a range from 1-5 and not 1-2 though.

There needs to be a useful repeatable mission to consume the parts, or some other uses for ppl that don't care about dropping them into the base. I got 300-400 parts yesterday from these things, but we are only dropping extra rank energy into the base due to it's poor xp reward, so won't need most of those parts.

what I see is a HUGE demand for Tech Parts
A npc ship that takes alot of energy to kill and drops 2 parts
Players are gonna need tons of energy to get the thousands of tech parts
*Dan gonna make some money when they give in and buy GP*
pretty sure it's planned this way for a reason

i love this thing, my legion was having trouble with the tech requirements for our legion base, now I get like 10 rogue tech collectors a day if i focus on npcs, an extra 10-20 tech parts

It's a good suggestion for lower level players to drop scan but I think the crits from high san are worth it at higher levels. I read the experiment someone did to estimate the effect of scan on crits and it looked like it did very little but in my experience of killing NPCs (over 7,000 now and I'm rank 290) it makes an important impact, especially as increasing attack gets really hard after Heavy Null Rays.
I guess Dan's made these ships hard to kill to slow down NPC hunters levelling. That's why they have low XP. They're a real pain and the tech parts aren't enough. They're slowing me finding those darn TO troop carriers and elusive Quasi-spacial expanders. Over 7,000 NPCs killed, Grand Legend status and I've only found 1 QSE.
