At this point i have a single average size planet the rest are larger and they are all at least rich in one resource, but my options now are not so hot so now i have to decide if i should go without planets for quite a while or pick up a few and just dump them later.....rather not do that as it costs GP to do so.

Improve your scan tech, use 5 of your best, add in some scan buffs and go at it. Sometimes finding just one really good planet can make everything worth it. I once found a 3/1/8 Mega rich Massive Exotic owned by a very low rank inactive player. Needless to say, I liberated it, and it kept me going for a couple weeks till I could find some more decent planets.

And a little advice, don't step in any more dog turds along the way. Big players in big legions really don't like losing their "average" planets let alone their "really good" ones...

I still say it was a worthwhile exercise, hell... I mighta tried for a third time personally. I sure as hell wouldnt purge that planet from your database. Something may happen in the future where you are able to utilize that planet location.

Dont let this discourage you, I am about to try to liberate a rank 550+ planet as a rank 180. If he catches me, I will get "womped" really hard too. However, the reward is worth all the risk.

You guys need to understand, you are not just risking your own "butt womping". You are risking a "butt womping" on your entire legion. If one of my guys has a threatened planet, our entire legion responds and we will respond against your entire legion. As Alpha Clan learned, they attacked one of our planets so we attacked 3 of theirs.

You may be ready to risk a days worth of attacks to gain one planet but your legionmates may not be willing to risk losing a few planets of their planets so you can gain one.

If it was just me yeah i am willing to take a beating, but as kaos pointed out it can potentially come back on legion mates and I'm not willing to risk them losing planets so i can gain a single planet.....i'll just have to be patient.

I am up to tachyon scanners so far and already did my run with 5 of them ounted and 3 artifact scan boosting items...believe there is one more but i have to be higher rank to get it off of an npc. I have 213 planets on my database at rank 82......the first run of tachyons scanners cost me an arm and a leg especially considering they are so big you have to buy them use them and then sell them off for a huge loss unless you are lucky enough to have a massive cargo. I have 524 decks and 280 cargo, not bad for my rank i think but even with that space doesn't feel roomy enough so i can't have scanners up all the time. With the escalation in scanner prices not to mention the research time i can't see being able to buy 5 of the next tier or two teirs up like i've been doing any time soon. Just to spendy.

@Lokai: If you start doing scan sprees every now and then, you will find perhaps even better planets unoccupied or taken by low ranked people that quit long ago.

That what i've done upto now. I'm up to tachyon scanners, have to wait till i can tech up again.....and be able to afford said scanners. I've done scann frenzy every other full tech levell, but with the cost involved i'm going to have to get by with just 1 scanner teir jump this time to x-manifolds and hope that between that and getting to 115 asap i can start taking planets off my database. I've taken as many planets as i can that appeared to be inactive players. The rest are either not worth anything or controlled by people above my rank.

apparently my little experiment and its results didn't leave much of an impression.........someone just posted a planet from another.....WELL known legion and suggested everyone try to take it. Why do i feel like someone just stepped on my grave........sigh.

Yeah you might want to educate them.. you learned an important lesson, and now time to give them the benefit of that experience.

Taking planets is a big part of the game.. but there are many things to consider first.. many times it is not worth it.. unless that is.. that legion happens to piss you off.. which gives other motives.

Important to note... yes Kaos took a couple planets over a second attack on his personal planet, but now he and his legion is actually helping this same player with game tips and ideas. Not bad at all.

not bad at all, kaos simply instructed me on the foolishness of my actions. He was never snooty or rude, it was just a matter of instruction on his part. I just thought that people would have leaned, there was only really a little grumbling over the results.....just seems odd that someone would suggest going up against another group over a planet so soon after my lil escapade.

It will continue to happen, part of the game. I don't have a problem with people taking planets and getting into a battle with me. I respect JessicaD and her group for taking me on instead of hiding in a hole (Terran Alliance sissies).

The problem I have is when they start a war and whine about getting their butt womped really hard. You were the first person NOT to whine about it and that is why I respect you.
