As a high rank still playing and still enjoying the game, kinda figured I would drop into this thread.

First I don't blame Dan for not showing up here cause 99 percent of the time anything directed towards him is pretty much flat out rude or in a round about way an insult or openly made to be both... I'm pretty sure Dan has a life outside of the game maybe family who knows it doesn't matter he still deserves respect regardless of him satisfying everyone's game needs.

He couldn't of known how big how fast some ships would grow or what worked at the beginning might not work now, the fact that we push boundries to see what's ahead and when there is nothing its pretty much our fault and that means being patient and waiting *or* more coming up with easy fixes to guide Dan so he can do something for us and keep interest for new players and much lower ranks without having to devote time to one end or the other.

Some of my ideas would be..

1) High rank 4k above mission chain doesn't need fantastic rewards just low xp gain and high energy use forget the 800 energy lets talk 3-5k energy per hit burning off 30-50k energy on a 10 hit mission completion to slow high ranks down it needs to burn off energy make us crack open a few energy cubes and tri's.

2) lets revamp the Flamehawk to crimson flamehawk mach 4 for 4k plus ranks make it glow brighter red give it some extra hull match its attack and defence and give it a 30% chance of handing out a random red badge that reward makes it worth going after without it being a simple 7 click oh yay another obelisk and there is a need for high ranks to be able to have ways of getting those badges.

3) redesign the Vicar to a permanent elite give it a new look buff it a little keep those devastating forward cannons and make the high ranks work for the reward which could be nothing more than the random chance of hacking or raiding the elite for a blue or yellow badge.

when we started this game every thing was hard didn't have the energy , didn't have the attack power what we need is simple fixes that put our ships to the test and make it a challenge to complete and requires using a lot of our excessive resources.

I know building mission chains take time, but they don't have to be new many of us haven't seen those missions for years, we would all like to see maybe another go at gaia seeds or another chance at a 4th rift etc redesign them a little bring them back for high ranks but make them a full on challenge.

Dan created a awesome game 5 years ago it still is, sure it lacks in a few areas *now* cause of the way it's grown, but I totally believe nasty and disrespectful will get this game flat out nothing. Bring back some game creator respect offer some genuine doable easy fixes without putting a time frame on and this game could remain awesome for a lot more years and I hope it does I'm no where near ready to retire from it.

If this was 2012 then i would 100% be posting that exact same thing, because that was when the first player broke rank 2000, and discovered that there was nothing there to replace anything.

So then came 2013 and we got 5 new NPC's, which was great, and since then nothing.

I 100% believe in a be nice to your developer mindset, in fact i was nice for over a year about there being no replacement for Troop Carriers(total of 2 years before a replacement came out).

However, here we are yet again, with nothing new in the pipeline(that we know of, because we're not told a thing). It's been 2 years and 2 months since anything new was added on a permanent basis, in regards to new NPC's(which lets be honest, for high ranks, is the only reason any of us still play).

There are also a dozen or so threads with quite in-depth details on possible replacement NPC's, so we even did all the work for Dan, heck i wrote up a half dozen if not more personally, which was like 2 years ago and yet here we are with nothing still, so what's the point anymore.

So i doubt you will find many people that will be polite about things, when we've asked for over 3 years now for more high rank NPC's and more high rank content in general, and we've been met with nothing.

Someone show me a reason why any person over rank 2k, should have good reason to even play this game anymore? A reason from the last 2 years of content introduced.

You realize that banned players aside, we've probably lost half the players who were rank 1500+(2 years ago) and of the other half that stuck with the game, 1/4 have kept ranking and are now rank 2k or higher.

The rest are just idling in that 1500-2000 rank area, soaking up whatever they can off of alerts from players much lower in rank than them, because those players don't want to rank anymore unless forced too, out of not wanting to lose content.

How can it be good for any game when the upper tier has players fearful of gaining too many ranks and getting punished for it with the removal of content?

I think you have to look at this from Dan's perspective. He can give you new npcs (in other words, give you reason to autorank). The npc can have a rank cap of 6000 or 7000. But what happens when you reach that rank? He'll have to add more npcs. High ranks grow exponentially faster than low ranks on account of their high energy bar and high attack. If he keeps adding new npcs with increasing rank caps, the gap between the high ranks and low ranks will grow wider and wider and soon he'll have to remove the rank 9999 cap. I don't think that's something that he wants to happen.

Do you know how long it takes to rank off of NPC's at rank 3k?

If not, then do not presume it's even plausible to autorank to those kinds of ranks, as it can take at least an hour at my rank to gain 1 rank via npc'ing.

At my best i can barely gain 3 ranks a day right now from NPC'ing before my fingers feel crippled, so your excuse is not plausible at all.

The reason/s for people reaching the ungodly ranks they have is by autoranking on missions and energy donations to bases, the first of which has been nerfed slightly.

All of that said, your reason at the end is exactly what Dan is doing. He is purposefully not adding end game, high rank content to force players to either grin and bare it, quit, or as is his hope, reset and start over again, plundering more cash into his wallet.

Lastly, who cares about this gap between low rank and high ranks? It's there already, me having 200k attack and 780k hull doesn't affect the rank 50 with 500 atk and 1500 hull does it? Since i can neither attack them nor see them, they're not even on my radar.

Autoranking isn't even an issue that should be brought up at all. Those who know about NPC'ing at these ranks no its an impossibility to gain the sort of ranks you're suggesting.

Plus let's face it, the player base is barely ranking at all at the moment. Legions as a whole are stalling in increasing their positions on the rank leaderboard. The only time any legion makes any movement these days is either as the result of gaining a high rank trader or a merger occurs.

What do you think happens in almost every other level based game out there?.. high level people hit max level, kill all the crap, and then either leave or expansions / new content is added allowing those who capped out to continue playing.. otherwise you loose some of your most loyal customer base. If there is nothing to do, they will not continue to play. Really, how hard is it to add 10 new NPC's every 6 months?

Want to band aid it until you can get some out? remove the level caps from all alerted npc's, at least let the high ranks help the lower ranks kill of stuff that might otherwise sit there for 24 hours before dying...

yeah you're right. i'm nowhere near rank 3k (i'm rank 1397). Maybe what Dan can do is add a super npc boss that's immune to all abilities and artifacts with like 500k defense and attack and 10 million hit points; reward could be a ship mod that gives you a low percent chance to do 1% of enemy ship's total hull + shield. That should keep the really high ranks busy for a while.
