I'm glad your planet was replaced and your staying in the game. I'm also glad we took it -- what a thrill for us that tried. When I get a job and pay of some debt I'll probably buy the Quasi-Spacial Expander's so I can do the "The Colossal Project" now that I know Dan would replace the planet if it where loss.

I also hope Dan makes note of the recent changes (Null fuse) and policy on mission planets in the next "News & Updates" post.

I wonder if Dan would keep the odds just as they are but if a mission planet is taken the game notifies Dan and he replaces it. Then the thrill we had last night will continue and the number of GREAT planets will increase ever so slowly.

awesome news notjoey. dan never said invading the mission based planets was impossible; the passive bonuses just made it very improbable. with this regard, dan had no obligations to replace it so it goes to show that he does care about what happens in the game.

DAN,
I'm really glad I could be a part of this even if my invasion failed like most of the other 'The Dysonians'.

However, I thought mission based planets were secure. Either I'm mistaken or a bug is in the game. Losing a missioned based planet is a good reason to quit and move on to another game. Already we had one member of 'The Dysonians' leave after he lost his mission based planet who was especially kind to me.

This planet was GREAT: 28X with 75space. I wouldn't blame the player if he quit.

Huh? It's working as intended. It's really tough.. Highest success rate is actually at only 17% by most powerful attack ship in the galaxy: Me.. We tried invasion last month against Exotic of 10k attack/def/cloak each with 12 invaders and we all FAILED and Exotic was fluxed by its original owner.. Now, about 9 of us failed on Dyson til Jody managed to invade with extremely lucky dice roll.. Only one Dyson or Exotic was LOST in 2-3 months after the upgrade.. To me, I think it is working as intended.. Far far better than pre-upgrade that players kept losing mission-based planets cuz it was too easy.. I'm glad that it's much more challenge now..

You shouldn't even have a chance to evade a planet unless you can get your attack power to match the total defense including Legion bonus. If this was the case you guys would not have had a chance to take it. That not working as intended. Or each failed attack the planet gets a bonus for couple hours.

was that us in PA?

I'm a little surprised that Dan replaced the Dyson - although I'm glad to hear that he did.

I assume that he could have set these planets as 'unfindable' and 'unhackable' if he wanted to, that he chose to give them a 10k passive attack, defense, and cloak means to me he intended for them to be damn hard to find and take, but not theoretically impossible.

I'd be equally glad to hear he makes them impossible in the future...

Hmm. You surprised that there is improbable in odds for invading Dyson? The Dysonians specialize in Dysons so they can defy any odds to acquire and own those planets. :D

Wow, that's good about Dyson replacement. Grats Joe.. At least, we got a bonus out of it for our effort that one of our member got new Dyson so nothing is lost. It's something to remember by and adds to our annals of war history..

Spoony.. I meant by having 12 invaders to invade exotic and all failed then, an hour later approx, owner finally got online and sent all guards to exotic.. We attempted and failed before owner knew about it.. Dyson invasion is different because NOTJOE WAS online when it happen and we did it very fast extinguishing almost all of our potential invaders then NOTJOE came to guard only to be killed quickly then Jody got it in matter of minutes.. I knew that we had to do it with element of surprise and FAST or we lost it forever.. I love the teamwork of Dysonians and their ability of secrecy for 24 hours without leaking anything out of the legion..

Crit Hack is supposed to ignore cloak.. You silly.. because all information of planets in the database inside ship for navigation can be hacked and the cloak isn't a factor.. It doesn't make sense to have cloak to evade hacks AT all.. It makes completely sense for cloak to evade scanning because it's physical thing..

While I'm no mathematician I think the number is a lot higher and that your math is flawed.

%5 Chance of a critical hack, 50% chance of that critical hack revealing a planet location. Double that number. Out of the 97 hacks i've done i've maybe gotten 1 or 2 planet locations. So, i think that 50% assumption is fairly high.

So, assuming it was based on a 50% chance of a critical hack revealing a planet, that number closer 18,960. AND, that is only assuming that every single critical hack which reveals a planet will reveal a planet that has not been revealed before, so, you must take into consideration the whole process all over all. I believe the right number is closer to 5.25 × 10 to the negative 6th power.

Disclaimer: I'm not exactly the best with math, my calculations could be wrong, so take it with a grain of salt.

While I'm no mathematician I think the number is a lot higher.

5% of hacks are critical, of those 5% i'm told 50% reveal planet locations. So, that would be about 2.5% chance of finding a planet location. Of that 2.5% of planet revealing hacks there is a .021% chance of finding the dyson. That amounts to 5.25 × 10 to the negative 6th power.

Disclaimer: I'm not exactly the best with math, my calculations could be wrong, so take it with a grain of salt.

So how do you get "5.25 × 10 to the negative 6th power"?

I stand corrected 1 in 18,960 chance.

Or do you mean 1 in 379,200 as in only if one hack and then it reveals your GREAT planet. Which is what I figure given any random hack on a player with 474 planets in their database.

Does anyone know if a critical hack revealing a planet may reveal any planet or it reveals an occupied planet?

It reveals a planet within your scan db regardless if it is enemy owned, unoccupied, or owned by the person who got hacked. It's based on the total planets in your db.

My formula was 2.5% chance of finding a planet, of that 2.5% successful planet revealing hacks there is a .021% chance that you would find that dyson. Though as i said, i'm not exactly the best with math. So, even if we went with your original estimate, accounted for the probability of finding a planet over being rewarded with extra RP, and accounted for the fact that it might be possible to hack a duplicate (I cannot confirm no deny this) planet, the odds of finding the dyson lessen. It might just be that a planet location which get critically hack would always be a planet which would not already be in the hackers scan list. We can only make assumptions.

DAN would you fill us in regarding the your formula for critical hacks of a planet.

Maybe this is wishful thinking on my part. I sure would like DAN to fill us in.

agreed, i wish though while at it, there was a way to tell what planet got hacked, even if it was only by use of a special artifact.

(i dont count flux probes because that doesnt tell you who scanned it, i'm not gonna care about the legionless or low legion rank 50 player who found my planet by luck in a scan when my defenses are in the range 1500/1500 atk/def.) Now the guy who i'm fighting back and forth, who's a crack legion, him/her on the other hand, if he's got one of mine, i want to know.

Agreed, although i would be happy with just knowing A planet got hacked. I'd use flux probes to make sure its not one of my better ones.

You should name it Joe... out of spite.

It's kind of sad mission planets don't get to have custom names. I changed the world with what I thought was the coolest name to an exotic. The natural dysons seem to have awesome names.

It was MY planet, Odald, that the Dark Side got a few days ago. It was an Exotic from the terraforming mission with the 10k / 10k / 10k / 10k. Took me a long time to save up enough terraformers.

I thought it was impossible for someone to find / steal.

No one critically hacked me but apparently, they did critically hack someone other turd who had somehow gotten the location of this planet. I haven't been critically hacked since before I got the planet as a reward so the only thing I can think of is that guy must have found it in a scan blitz!

Since I thought it was impossible to find, I never bothered to flux probe to make sure no one else had found it.

Congrats to you guys in Dark Side. I hate you more than ever (j/k)!!!

Oh, and Dan, can I have a replacement planet? hehehehe
