I don't know about you but there should be limits on what should be allowed for ship names
Im not going to publish examples here - why? kids play the game & use the forum - Vulgar language is not allowed period and so should it be with ship names
If some of you guys can't grow up and use non-offending names then you should be banned My kids should not be force to see this stuff when playing
my suggestion Dan puts a filter on ship names - when it flags them it sets it back to default Facebook name and a Message is sent to the user - warning them that no further uses of Vulgar or offense names will be allowed
remind them of the forum and game rules and enforce a ban it it's breached a second time

It's a simple matter to bypass censors if you know how to do sh!t (<--as an example). If you find a ship with an inappropriate name, use the in-game reporting link.

When I start seeing body parts(slangs) named in the ship name - it becomes a definite no-no Same thing would go for racist words
imagine "Body part"-licker or "body part"-sucker
just why can't some of you people realize there are limits on what you should do - this is not an adult game
A useful reminder sent to players would also be nice in news to remind players about rules
the fact is I can't go thru all the ship names and see - so Im forced to see the stuff and so are others until someone reports it and then we have to wait til dan gets to it
in the meantime people and kids are exposed to it til it's corrected
For dan it be easy to go thru database and flag them with some filter
and it be easy to implement a filter on the creation of the name in the first place

School~ not the internet As for the "I'm forced to see the stuff and so are others until Dan fixes it", again~ I'm sorry but you're not being forced to play this game? With regards to the "This is not an adult's game", I agree~ it isn't an adult's game. But we've all heard the outcry of 1million mum's and other such organisations trying to ban 18+games because.....their little hellspawn got their hands on the game (usually by the mother buying the game for them) I agree some IGNs are a little over the top and questionable, But thems the breaks unfortunately~ some people are OTT and questionable~

Actually Im not that hard stern can't take that stuff kinda of guy I was a moderator on another forum for awhile so Ive seen a lot of stuff and let some stuff slide
In the forums it's much easier to censor and correct - and you have to look for it and by far Id have more leeway here - because I do accept some swear words - like kids know what K'rap Teeurd Sh!t ..P is don't they
just leave the racists and body parts out - in the forum I moderated you got a warning the first time the second you were bounced same goes for any threats
Ive made mistakes(bad language) on forums and got the same message - so Ive been on the receiving end too
and the forum doesn't bluntly expose itself on the front page like the battle page on the game unless you make a heading with some swear words or other naughty stuff - and that would be caught by a moderator and forums can be corrected easily by moderator and player not so easy for name in game where you need to buy arti to correct
Id be happy if the gang or players here or legions would self censor - consider what is offensive if a legion(leaders should take the lead here) finds a name iffy or a no-no they should tell the user to change it or get clearance from dan maybe kick players that don't change them
whats the problem? you can't find enough cool names out there so you have to resort to that? just my 2c

I'm more concerned with the ship names that are derogatory against sexual orientations.

I believe names can be reported and, if the devs agree, they will be changed. It happened to someone in my old Legion.

Considering you need to be at least 13 to use facebook (it's in the terms and conditions), then I don't see what the problem is of vulgar language. I'd heard all the vulgar words (and more) by the time I was 10. Galaxy Legion is a facebook game, which suggests its players are all at least 13.
I'm not suggesting it's nice to use vulgar language, but surely it's the user's choice? I personally refrain from it, but I don't see why we have to censor others - except, of course, if they use offensive language, which is a different matter altogether.
So would it okay to say "blue tit"? And would words like "arsenal" be censored because the first four letters are 'rude'? And some people might even know about the problem Scunthorpe had many moons ago on the internet - the council couldn't put up its own website because the word Scunthorpe 'contained a rude word in it. *sigh*

I'm an adult and I do not like seeing vulgarity or skin. I never have heard anyone complain: that forum doesn't have enough vulgar language, I'm never going back! lol. Have you? They won't let me swear, I'm leaving. Never heard that one either. Unless the rule was implemented or enforced after the vulgar person had been going on for awhile.
Just my 3 cents. Happy flying!

I personally am long haired and tattooed, I was raised in a biker club family, I cuss, swear, and carry on with the best of 'em. I am also an adult with children who knows when it is and it isn't appropriate to use such language. I do not sit playing X-box and cuss at the screen in front of my children (or anyone else's). It doesn't matter at what age children or young adults are first hearing this language, nor does it matter that Fb is supposed to be 13+ (we all know it isn't). IMO it's about showing the younger generations that vulgar language doesn't have to be used to get a point across. I would imagine that a lot of the vulgarity in IGNs is by younger people or immature adults trying to look "cool". What I do is first comm the player whether it be their IGN or their language, appeal to their sense of decency and request that they change it or stop. If that doesn't work then I report them. Dan has gone to great lengths to make GL a fun, family friendly, mostly free game. The least we can do to show him that we appreciate the effort he's made is to support and help him keep it that way.

remind them of the forum and game rules and enforce a ban it it's breached a second time I completely agree. Except on censorship. GL is a community, we should act like responsible gamers without threats by using our common sense. Upon learning we had a 6th grader in our group, we agreed to keep things proper and it was easy to reach consensus on this. We went as far as reminding him not to neglect his school work or he could get kicked. I come from a gamer guild which worked on PG-13 premises and every guild member was held to standards. It isn't the torture some take it to be. Coconut
