I keep hearing people saying they don't want to rank too fast, because they don't want to get to 2200. My question is why are they slow ranking? I mean if they are serious about wanting more terraformers, shouldn't they be killing NPCs in droves? Instead I see them at 100k-300k NPC kills and no intention of actually NPCing. So why do people do this?

i have under 10k npc kills ... but have had 3 t.o. troop carrriers this week. npc'ing like a madman helps, but it's not the only way.

People want to be the most powerful ship in whatever arbitrary range they choose for themselves. Makes no sense to me since while they do become more powerful compared to other similar ships, in the overall scheme of things they are falling further and further behind everyone else. Whatever floats their boat i guess.

How many ranks have you gained this week?

Seems to me you'd want to NPC as much as possible to maximize the number of TO Troop Carriers you see before hitting the big two two hundred.

But idk what goes on in other people's heads.

Ideal strategy for the focused player - start as (and stay) Konqul Excavator, accumulate most/all badges ranking off of PVP at first while sitting in a research legion until +12s, unlock some BT slots, Tactial Remod, and Trellith, then rank as fast as possible to 2200 only on NPCs while staying close to their damage cap. Then, I dunno, kill bases and see whether DMCs are worth anything at all?

i was rank 390 on September 8th and just ranked up to 397.

oh, and i am up to 4 t.o. troopers this week ... 3 in the last 3 days !

EDIT: still under 9300 NPC kills ... have 14 terraformers in stock ... and i have used at least half a dozen. so that works out to a minimum of 1 in 465 - not the greatest ... but that will improve over time as i NPC more.

my Seeing Red medal is done; i am at 253 of 900 for my Hacker vs Hacker; and i am at 7 of 30 solo'd bosses. 6 of 8 NPC slots with tactical remodulation ability.
