Don't want to spoil the fun but,

do you think this will make more 2200+ players show up in the near future? - with autoranking, unfortunately :P

IF this is implemented, do you think Dan will implement that 'reduced energy refills' per levelup ?

I guess this 2200+ NPCs should be regarded as 'a fix' to the players already reached 2200+, and not as 'OMG! I want to see the new NPCs!' and autorank to 2200+ :)

I think others and my self chose to play this game and spend cash because of that. Every other FB game made you wait longer and longer the more you played. That's a punishment in my eye's and I think many would agree. GL gives us freedom. Dan may not have intended for this. But With out it his game would not be nearly as good. People like me would not be hear today. It will solve its self. it's a very good thing.

People that auto-rank have put considerable time (and energy, literally) into GL. Unlike most (all?) other FB games, where you become less able to play or progress over time, the game rewards your effort by basically saying you can play as much as you want now. It does take some planning but you don't start out being able to do it. I know I would not have played for so long if I had to wait and play for only a few minutes each day on energy charge alone. It is just a 'phase' of the game now as much as anything but it does differentiate GL. There are not many FB games let you play 4-8 hours a day if you want without running out of energy or some other 'constraint resource'.

After reading your posts, I kinda agree :)

Yeah, I played GL just because I don't have to wait, like : lv1 Town Hall built in 5 seconds ... lv20 Town Hall built in 12 hours 34 minutes, and things like that...

BUT, if you guys say : autorank will be slowed down by the more clicks you do to autorank, WHAT will you think of ppl who asking for 50 energy button, instakill NPC, etc. etc. ?

Those will always get a -1 vote from me, simply because they mean, the majority of people spend less time at their computer playing this game.

Yeah, that's the trick of the matter. If autoranking hadn't been possible I probably would've gotten bored of this like I got bored of Castle Age. When the game devolves into solely logging on each morning and each night to gather resources and dump energy it's easy to lose interest. Of course, autoranking has caused problems in design, but doing something to completely prevent it would probably be worse for the game overall.

I agree that things like killing NPC's shouldn't be hurried through, since it is the actual game. But is it really adding fun to have to click every single Android Helmsman manually? Did it make the game *less* fun when Dan made it possible to collect all your AP in one big pull? I think drudgery should be minimized so that the actual game can be enjoyed.

Bumping, as although its nice to see it introduced, i feel my concerns were met or eased at all, as apparently the most useless artifact in the game for high rank players, is still included as the NPC drop.

I honestly don't care if it has a 5% drop spawn, it's of no use to anyone as high of a rank that can see the NPC in the first place.

This btw, is not being ungrateful, as i am grateful there's a replacement for troop carriers, but i knew from the get-go an all-in-one NPC would be trouble, and there's the proof. If the original's had just had the rank cap eliminated, could've avoided this.

Not gonna name names, but people need to be very careful about coming off as ungrateful whiners. This will almost certainly sour the support of the community if they continue to cry about efforts to bring balance to the game. Y'all deserve your carrots, but there must be constraints, or the galaxy will die a slow death as new players realize they can never compete with autoranking purge terrafarmers.

The issue here is that the NPC that has been added seems to do very little to address the problem (e.g. lack of motivation to keep NPCing after rank 2200), when the fix for that issue was a very easy one (remove rank limit to existing "ranked" NPCs).

To kirkeastment --> how rare is this NPC, as far as you can tell? More rare than a troop carrier, or just as ?

cheers,
Sharn

I'd say its a comparable rareness with the original Troop Carrier.

I'm currently 6/6 for non troop carrier drops as well... 2 purifiers/1 krio/1 flux/2 bio-vaps.

@Anna, whilst i can respect the idea of this being implemented solely for the purpose of constraint, i already know via Dan, that its actually because of the lack of dilution of the NPC pool at Rank 2200+, which is the reason this one NPC has all drops on it, which for the time being i'm fine with, as its likely to change once more NPC's are introduced.

EDIT: Make that 7/7... got another bio-vaporizer.

In an earlier post about this subject Dan did say that rates could be adjusted so in the spirit of that have you considered a differant approach?

"Dan thanks for the new NPC, we know you need some 'filler' arti's like Crimson Obolisks and now K. Torps, but please A) make the drop rate and those fairly low as really we just turning them credits or B) give us a cool new CT lab item or one of the new legion missions using them so we can have some desire for the things."

Also there were several ppl asking for purifiers so i'm glad he added in those, just because you (and I) don't need them cause of your good planning is no reason to call them useless.

Yep fair points to make.

I've no real issue with purifiers/torpedo's being back, it just irked me, shall we say, that they were all just chucked onto one NPC.

I certainly should say thanks to Dan, for bringing back a way to get all of these artifacts, as it does make me want to NPC again, and keep myself involved in the game, which is a plus.

Either way, i am happy with there being a new NPC introduced, and I and my legionmates are eagerly awaiting the other updates coming along over the next few weeks/months.

It may have been unfair to say you personally mocked, but this issue could have been dealt with many months ago if everyone gave an overwhelming community response, but instead the vast majority laughed at the highest rankers and called them names, so at this point it's a little late to be pushing for an answer when attention should have been given long ago.

I disagree. Saying that is it too late to get an answer or fix a problem doesn't help anyone. Heck, I realize and accept that I got myself into this situation, but I'm not going to blame myself. I'm going to seek a nice proactive solution. And to begin that I want to give Dan a chance to open the lines of communication. Let him know I'm willing to listen to any suggestions that he might have about the issue. Even if it is to explain why we are out of luck. :P

And while Dan might not check Issue forum posts every week, I plan on keeping the topic on top until I can get a response. I really think it can be resolved in good way.
I'm sickeningly optimistic.

Well put Namalak, +1

Hey guys,

Any changes so far? The initial impression seemed to be that this new NPC was not enough to fix the issue, but I haven't seen any movement on either side (e.g. no further feedback and no comments from Dan or the new mods).

Is anyone satisfied with this fix or should we ask for more changes?

As far as I am concerned the issue is closed. All the requested drops have been re-issued for rank 2200+ people. True, not a pretty method and the pickings are slim, but at least we have a chance. That's all I ever asked for.

Now as far as improved drop rates or possibly splitting certain artifact drops from the DMC to a new NPC, that would be strictly a Suggestion-type request. Which isn't a bad idea. :)

I think it would be cool to see a new Stryll "Assassin" that is similar to the RTC, chance to drop 1-2 Dark Badges instead of just 1.

Also with a 5% rare drop of a stryll seeker and some thing that dose not take like min 80 hits to kill.
