 Ok How do you protect your planets, Cloak'em, brick them .. . or mix'em. Plz pst rank as well. i think Rank playes a huge part in this ,
To start as a lower ranks i was a noob at planets. i did not lose a single planet till aronrd rank 160ish. Remeric stole my giga. x5 or some thing. after that I simi bricked. Tempo fluxes where to hard to make.
Around rank 500 i was able to make tempo fluxes eassyly. my NrG bars was always big. but i still kept at least 10k def on them. 2 years ago 10k was a good amount. most people did not have over 15kish atk
around rank 1k i started to make a lota x15. and defence seemd usless. so I cloaked them all 14-18k each. no possive atk/def most people could eassaly take them. i did max passive cloak only. it was risky and i thought i'd take the chance. It worked well for me. i never lost one of them. I fluxed probed them 3-4 times aweek. all my dark badges went to cloaking them.
Now i dont realy have the AP's. but i do add a pinch of def to x4+ planets. i also add some def to x18 irrads. mostly in the forms of passives and % boosting mods. very few. shields. i set most planets to 100% produsction not like i cant take them back.
the reason why i never added passive atk/def to my ap planets back then was. i had low at, nrg build. and i figured any one to scan them the passives would not stop them. so i keep it low in the hop my legion and i would have an easer time taking it back of it was not fluxes. I took a risk with my planets but it worked well for me. what about you all.?
storage planets i always bricked ! never lost one aswell. I never used demoned or plasmas for them that just screams hay look at me. i used random just i took as a noob. VL rick mining. :/ good for holding 5-8 towers with over 80k def. i did max passives on storage planets, atk / def when able.

Maxed arts I cloak and brick.
Storage I cloak
Maxed mining and medium art (1x-6x) I brick
reset is pure production and a vault

Arti planets cloaked beyond max scan, if the glitch of scanning while not enough cloak and it gets stolen, Dan will refund.. (hasn't happened to me tho)
No cloak artis ? max passive cloak (so newbs and low ranks don't scan it) and brick it with 50k defense ish, producing ~650 ap/h
Maxed toxics? only put 2 or 3 obvation barriers on them, the rest pure production, don't care if they get stolen but i don't want to have to make more because a newb stole it and it's not worth the credits to take back and the energy of the temp flux
Max research? same story as toxics.
Storage planets? (with 15 towers and some with mission storage artis) brick them with 150k defense (concord,nexus,etc) the easy to make stuff.
