 The only thing other than loads of ctp or $$$ that will boost your ap in a short time is the trellith chain, other than that it's best to avoid continual autoranking on our field Dex

The biggest question is do you care about your kill/death ratio?
If yes, then autoranking is not the answer. If no, then go for it. Autorank off NPC's and build your production through terraformers, purifiers, and PDO's. The more planets you build in this fashion the faster you will grow. IF you want to look at fast builds look towards kirk and primiz both under 2 years played and past rank 2500 some of the highest ap/h in the game and very solid ships.
