OK so I wanted to see what level of shield tech i would need to research in order to gain access to the most powerful defence structures. I looked in the wiki at this page.

It appears that the Planetay Effects are off. I have some mass shilds and they yield 450 defence not the 100 the wiki states. So I ask can anyone reliablly inform me of what level of shield technology I need to research to get the best planetary defence structure and how much defence it will yield.

Planetary Shields are size 2 and +750 Defense - the wiki is currently incorrect regarding these structures.

I cannot confirm if there are any higher level types as I have not researched that far, but hopefully someone else can answer that question.

As you already have Mass Shields you should be pretty close.

Disruption Fields x3 (Mass Shields unlocked after 1st stage completed) - 25000 RP per stage
Stasis Fields x3 - 40000 RP per stage
Rift Fields x3 (Planetary Shields unlocked after 1st stage completed) - 85000 RP per stage

I agree that it's a great improvement. Well worth the research.
