Shadow planets would be like Gas planets only much much darker in color, they are like Super Research planets.
Sky: Rare Small - Massive Mining: NONE Research: Very Abundant - 1x Mega Rich Artifact: NONE
Planets that seem like only endless sky, its kind of a lame/impossible idea, but it would be interesting to see.
Eden: Legendary (or better) Colossal - Mega Colossal Mining: 15x Mega Rich - 50x Mega Rich Research: 7x Mega Rich - 50x Mega Rich Artifact: 10x Mega Rich - 50x Mega Rich
A golden planet with colorful clouds and crystals on its surface, some say it is one of the first planets formed in the creation of the universe. These planets are very VERY hard to find and rival even the Dysons!
If I come up with any more I'll be sure to post em here. Great idea here .. I really like the ideas of bigger and better. It's what the game needs right now. Another treasure planet that we could get in a mission or scan.

If i wander off totally into the realms of fantasy how about mining Oort clouds? and a mission to convert an Oort cloud into a crystalline Dyson, 50000 energy points to complete and you get something with zero mining, artifacts or research, but it produces one energy cube every 100 hours.

i would like this. it would be cool to get a consistant energy cube production.

why not have a planet like object composed of anti madder.
very rare large or better Mining: none Research:Very Rich x5 or more Artifact: none it would look like empty space. you cannot put more pop on it but def/atk is OK.

I like many of these ideas however, we are just asking for more artwork. Everyone is asking for the same things that can already be gotten from artifacts (+ resources, passive att/def/cloak). In the end, we will have the same planets (VM, 15x all, maxed out passive) with different pictures. While not greatly different, I think more/different planet passives would add more to the game. Things that you can't just get from NPC farming.

Great idea. But, it should be gotten through an artifact, which you could only get one of, to prevent abuse

I was also thinking yesterday about a planet that could only be held by a legion, not any one individual player but the legion as an entity, producing resources that can be distributed to any member of the legion who is in dire need of a few rp to finish a research tree, minerals to stop a player going into hock... That got me thinking about a legion storage planet, a place where we can deposit all those extra subspace seekers for someones rainy day...

But a lot of people are voting for a Legion space station for that very reason.

I'm a little new to this and a little late on the subject, but here goes. How about "Hallow" planets, typcally barren but other types possible, but gaia or terra 'under the surface'. Yes, wouold be totally mythical, but could fool scanners or even hide occupation altogether. OR how 'bout magnetic planets, doesn't have to be akin to metallic, does have a very strong gravity pull, maybe equal to a random grav-whip chance, and tremendous lightning storms, maybe an inherant def. bonus. Rainbow planets would have an inherant resistance to external sorces of the electromagnetic stectrum, making them hard or impossible to scan. anyway I've got a few others but I'm sure I'm so late on the subject that you got it all covered. Thank you for your time in reading this.

Having to "Invade" them even when they are unclaimed to show scouting and clearing some of the field to make a suitable base camp. Invading an unoccupied field would not trigger the invasion timer, but possibly a separate one for asteroid fields, like repairing scouting ships.

How about a MILITARIZED planet? No really good resources (average at best), but it provides Attack and/or Defense points for the controlling player?

I think you did, but for just-in-casies) should be another one-five time use arty.

maybe a bonus to both. being able to choose which one you want but you once you've chosen you can't change it.

That would certainly get my vote, as would being able to send legion mates my old guns, shields and so on if they have the tech level to use them but not the cash or resources to build them... Oooh that's an idea... a sector bazaar where people from all legions can sell their old kit... Babylon 5 anyone?

Yes, I meant 'Hollow'. Here's another idea, when we scan for planets, they're either occupied (by another player) or unoccupied, but what about planets with native populations on them. Maybe not technologically advanced to reach the stars, or maybe they are and are extremely xenophobic. The percentage of planets with native populations would be rare, but would present another set of challenges or tasks for the player before he could fully colonize, and the rewards of a planet full of willing workers should or could offer say, the equivelent of rescued prisoners every so often. And heres another idea, we have mining, research, artifact and exotic matter production on our planets, why not exotic goods, they might bring a special bonus to certain races or ship construction, or maybe just saved up to sell on the 'Galactic Market'. Anyway thats all for now...till next time.

I like this idea, but it wouldn't be called rescued prisoners, more likely Willing Workers, and I'd say that the odds of getting the artifact would be dependent on planet population. the more of a population you have the more likely the chance of getting the artifact. but when you get the artifact it temporarily takes a certain number of the population of all your planets down for a certain amount of time.

I don't see any reason why all planets population have to take a dive for a short time, this would be a bonus, the population isn't leaving in any great numbers, just out of the millions of inhabitants, every so often a handfull become qualified to join your ship as crew, or they are able to complete some repairs or addition, like add hull, just like a rescued prisoners artifact. If your looking for a means to balance this, you could add restrictions to the player, no military buildings (to prevent total slavery), or a certain amount of research/artifact points would be deducted to represent the efforts in governing a foreign body. Or hell for simplicity, you could just give them a free hull repair when they visit the planet for a certain period of time, with any other bonus coming every so many levels or research advancments. You could also just replace lost crew members due to deaths from missions or raids.

well the thing is though is that in the game the population doesn't number in the millions, unless you want to think of it as 1 point = 1 million people.
that's why I was saying a small drop in population.
