Don't bother starting a legion. Join a bigger legion, and let them train you up. It's the true path to success.

If not here is a few pointers: -Network, network, network -develop a classy bad ass rep(for your rank at least lol) in GL since its just pixels, its not location location location, its LOGO LOGO LOGO! Where's your banner? Let people know about your crew... -DONT make anyone else a leader until you trust them. You can find plenty of stories in pub of people being promoted and sticking the knife in to their buddies, and that was at the officer level! those are the best broad stroke pointers that come to mind. Oh and have FUN!

Oh and have FUN! great pointers. i would though suggest to go to a more established legion if only for a little while to see how they are run and learn a bit more about the game before trying to do it by yourself.

For 1&3: The Artists' Guild For 2: Most established legions were created when the game was in its early days. Not many new legions these days can succeed, but you never know for sure unless you try, right?

Anybody can build a successful legion if they try hard enough. It's a lot easier for higher ranked/well known players to do but that doesn't mean you can't do it too. Make sure to advertise, come up with a cool theme, and learn as much as you can. As a leader your players will often come to you with questions. Work on finding some people you trust to help you as officers Be patient... building a good legion takes a long time unless it is one of those "kit-built" ones consisting of defectors from other legions.
Some advice if you decide you want to learn more about how legions should work. Try visiting one of the more popular legions in your rank range. I recommend The Sith Acolytes, The Invisible Storm, or Steel Talons

Wow game over? Starting new legions is what keeps this game good and more should strive to do it! I wouldn't blame anyone who plays with EMM for leaving to start thier own legion. Beat the odds and make something of your legion if thats what you want. Many examples of newer legions rising look at Empire of the Sun and Earths Militant Minds in the top 50. The Citadel, Imperium Of Namalak, Invisable Storm, Justice Legion, Space Spartans and Star Force all under a year old and possible top 50 legions in the future(if I didnt mention you its not that you rnot good I just gave up on trying to find examples).
Challange these guys who ride the coat tails of the legions, safe that they wont lose thier planets or be multi hacked/raided because thier legion keeps them safe. It is what the game is about but new legions still have a chance to be something special, one day the dysonians will not be number one someone else will(EMM, What?).
Use the forum to recruit look at the other posts as examples, you do seem a little inexperienced so you may wish to find someone help but keep the hope. Be a leader who is fair and help those on your team, players will come but it takes work. Realize your limits and play within you means, diplomacy and reaching out to others is always a plus. Wiki is a great soure and ask questions in the forum, most importantly ignore those who tell you its hopeless. Fly safe and strong!

From what I've seen, the key to keeping a new legion alive is to bribe several high rankers to join you, even if they don't stay, their presence is a sign to lower levels that there is strength to be found. So try posting recruitment threads in the trade groups, but make sure you are offering something, otherwise the group admins will delete your posts and kick you out.
