My views of using them are that they are part of the game and if someone has to use them on me to bring me to their level then it shows who the stronger is. I use stat buffs (Crystal Foci, Obelisk, Crimson Amp, Grid Console ect) when going on any sort of battle-run as it just makes the energy:ratio better. I don't hit any enemies with artifacts in PvP runs though unless it is in retaliation, though normally I quite simply don't bother retaliating. I get disabled once or twice a week by people over 100 ranks higher than me; it's not their attack/defense that bothers me the most. It's their hull. I don't see the point in wasting the energy. Their (likely) higher defense will mean you will be doing much lower damage than usual and as a result your xp ratio will be lower (Never bothered to check if more damage = More xp, but that seems to be the case in my experience). Alternatively, I could forget about the whole experience (If it even constitutes an experience) and get on with my life and go spent that 400 energy disabling half a dozen people closer to my rank.

I think it doesn't matter how much damage you do only if you win that battle.

It seems to scale up, though of course there is the random nature of the game so I may just be seeing things.

If someone hits me with debuffs, I'll hit them back. Usually it's because I know I can take 'em. I don't use them myself though, don't start what you can't finish.

never had that issue with risky, but they succinctly put the logic out there.

Is it ethical to alert someone for hitting you with debuffs and then disabling you?

Depends on your ethics Nova
I dont- especially if i hit them first- unless i am at war with their legion- in which case sneezing near me will get them alerted
What i do do is kill anyone who hits my ship.
Don't normally need help for that

Don't normally need help for that I don't think too many people will argue with you on that

It's not a matter of ethics in pvp, its a matter of you and/or your legion rules.
If your legions' rules say 'don't alert for this, this and this', then don't. If it doesn't, alert for whatever reason you want.

If your legions' rules say 'don't alert for this, this and this', then don't. If it doesn't, alert for whatever reason you want. Some people do have ethics though as what you do could potentially damage other people's gaming experience.
