An alternative idea to protecting Paid for Planets

Ok, this is obviously the defining issue of the day. So I had a bit of inspiration that I will put out and see what everyone thinks:

The issue is safeguarding planets that people paid money for.

First, forget cloak. I don't know the game mechanics, but I'm assuming that it is theoretically possible for a level 5 to scan a Dyson with 3K cloak on it. There has to be a minimum chance, and it is never zero, so every time this happens to someone, they are going to flip out and post something about cloak not working.

My suggestion is to make any exotic or dyson created by a player (via missions or money or whatever) Immune to artifacts used by anyone but the original creator. That way, should the planet be taken, it could not be fluxed, and would end up as a sort of 'King of the Hill' until the original owner took it back.
The original owner would always have the planet available in his/her scans, and it could not be fluxed by anyone but him. So, should he lose it, even to a player vastly stronger, he will always have a chance of getting it back. Any player that takes a created planet will know that it will require constant defense, without the aid of artifacts.

Stupid, or legitimate?

I think it sounds fine, though Dan said that if the cloak is higher than the scan it is a 0% chance.

Very well. But this will still protect pretty much everyone from losing their cash planets for good.

I don't think a level 5 person could have 11,000 scan, so no, not really.

Dan has repeatedly stated that planets with higher cloak than the players scan will not be found by the scanner. Eventually as you increase your scanning ability you will get more scan than a player will equip on a planet. This is done purposly so you have the chance to find planets and take them, since this is what the game is all about.

Why you have such a complicated proccess for you planet immunity is beyond me. It's realy very easy just to make it where your mission made exotic and dyson can't be taken. As for any other planet, this is unacceptable. You know the risks before you spend the cash on your planets. If you still do so than you accept those risks and live with it. THe biggest problem is you guys did the missions that increase your planets worth before you were a high enough rank and had enough tech level to adequately protect those planets. That's your alls fault for not being patient and waiting till you had better tech and strength to protect your plaents, not the other guy's fault for out ranking you and being stronger than you.

That's false. I haven't gotten these planets myself, but the people you're talking about had the best stuff you could, it's just that even the best stuff isn't enough to protect it.

Re: The Game Broke
During scanning, there is a first roll to check if the scan was successful. If it was, a random planet is picked from the galaxy. If the planet that was picked has cloaking, then a 2nd roll takes place.

As mentioned before, If the planet's cloak is greater than the ship's scan rating, the scan will fail.

If the ship's scan rating is greater than the planets cloak, than the formula is as follows:
CHANCE = (1 - (PLANET CLOAK / SHIP SCAN))

So, if the planet has 2000 cloak, and the ship's scan is 5000, then there is a 60% chance the scan will be successful.

There are some ways a level 23 could land on a planet with that much cloaking:
* Scanning the planet before it was developed (before cloak was added to it) and conquered later
* Receiving a share from another ship who actually performed the scan, including the situation above

There are traps available (Drannik Swarm etc) and measures to prevent a flux (Exo-Rift Repulsor, Vortex Deflector). Cloak is only one line of defense, and relying on it exclusively is not a guarantee of protection.

See the viewtopic.php?f=5&t=583 thread, and send us the players/planets involved if you would like us to look up any specific situations you are unsure about.

No, you do not know what I was saying.

I was replying to this part of your comment:

You can't have enough tech to adequately protect your planets because of what Dan said. In my most recent scan blitz I had close to 6000 scanning, so they would need 6000 cloak in order to adequately hide it. Assuming a Legion of 50 you would need to build 3000 worth of cloak, which would be 6 Anti-Tachyon Satellites, which would take 36 space, a lot more than people can really afford. And I didn't have that much scanning compared to other people. So no, I didn't think he was lying, you were misunderstanding the situation.

Ferrus the ranked 5 don't worry me at all. It's the ranked 250+ I'm worried about.

Rank 1 - 20 can't have their worlds taken either way so no worry there. lol But all the others have to do something about it. Dan is working on that from what I have seen. Their is more and more means of protecting your worlds coming out now and I think it will all work out in the end.

You buy 10 Terraformers for the Terra Project mission. The follow up needs 10 Quasi-Spacial Expanders to make a Dyson planet.
