I wounder how this function works because i can type like 3 letters and i get totally different artifacts that doesnt even match with those 3 letters in a row, nor some other logical way.
Also, "ship" wont only shop ship-bot until i type "ship-", afaik I dont have any other artifacts, never the less 5-6 artifacts that has "ship" in its name..
This applies to artifact filter box.

The filter matches more than just the title, it also matches the description and target.
For instance, if you use 'cloak' as the filter, it will show you all artifacts that have some effect on cloak, even if cloak is not part of the title.

I think it's useful, just look up the effect you're trying to have (like "cloak" in his example, or "scan" if you're about to do a scanning blitz).

Could you add a small check box or some small setting that allowed peopel only to filter by item name (could be as simple as an [ ] besides the filter box and a hoover text explaining what it does)

Quote: this forces me to remember ALL the names of the artifacts i currently looking for Actually, the reverse is true. Assuming you forgot the name of the 'Chaostatic Inhibitor', but you knew that it had some effect on shield recharge, you could just type 'shield' to find it.

Often. not for me, i only remember partly its name, or the name is too long or too complex to type in full, but the part i remember, often the first part, seems to match "everything else" until i put in more than half of it into filter ;P

Why not make it so you can tabulate the artifacts anyway? By effect for example.. or by target.
So when you scroll through left to right you get tabs of similar effects ?

I use this more extensively for looking up planets. Say punch in "Art rich unocc" for all worlds that are Unoccupied, have artifact as a primary resource, and some rank of rich in it.

Example: " -b" should only give you ship -bot however, it also gives you Captured Crimson Base and Prejor Beacon Jammer. I don't see a hyphen in either of their names or descriptions. It is not the b as T.O. Sentry Bot doesn't show up.
