 Legion Shipment Auto or not

I've always wondered.. What advantages/disadvantages are there to have the legion shipment as automatic or manual? As long as you're active, there is still 'x' amount of resource reserved for you which gets wasted if you don't collect so why do so many legions keep it as something you have to actually go out of your way to do?

I would say not. Its fine the shipment can go over your max resources, but anything you get after that will be wasted. If you can't log on for 30 seconds everyday to claim it you don't deserve it.

The major disadvantage of autoship is that for those that are close to or at max due to work, sleep, etc when it comes time for payout basically lose any further hourly production. That in itself, to me, outweighs any possible disadvantages of manual claiming. On manual, if you don't get your payout, it's your own damn fault.

Can't speak for anyone else, But for me the shipment comes in at about 4am. So if I am going to fill up overnight anyways (and I do) this would result in lost resources. Other members have that same issue, and then you have low level players for whom the daily shipment is more then their cap who would miss hours of production.

When it's claimed, I can spend everything from overnight first, then claim, and things just work better.

But either way it is wasted; surely it is more beneficial to the players for it to be automatic and I can see no reason other than deciding whether or not someone deserves it for it to be manual. Unless, for whatever reason, a player wishes to keep their resources down.

If you're close to max production and you receive a shipment, you receive a full shipment. I have been at max capacity and received shipments in the past to go well over my capacity for research. If you have 1 hour left before hitting max resources, and then you receive 20,000 of a resource, surely it makes no difference. Either way, in an hour you would be wasting production it's just that this way you're wasting it with 17,000 more of a resource in your hold.

Silens, Think about what happens if the shipment comes in at 4am, you won't be up for 3 hours, and the shipment puts you over the cap.

3 hours of lost production that is fixed with a few simple clicks of the mouse.

As I said.... That right there is reason enough to not use the autoship. I don't know of any self-respecting legion that uses it.

you should just claim it on top of whatever you already have. my arti cap is ~162K, and base payout is ~60K, so i take my share when im nearing max, (~158-162K depending on raids) and then do my arti pull with ~220k

MANUAL

Apart from what everyone else here has said, automatic shipments are also buggy. You might get it at 12 pm (as an example) one day, or when you log in at 5pm another day. This is how it's been with my base shipments in the past, so i've switched to manual and everyone has become a whole lot happier.

Take 10 seconds tops to claim it yourself and have more production or be a lazy sod and lose out on production. Take your pick.
