What, in your opinion is the best defence for storage structures? Say you had 5 warehouses (2 space). How would you protect them?
1: The wall - all 5 warehouses, brick the planet with defence and population, and a little attack. Use a VM planet for this. Pros: Unlikely to be taken if found, most people will ignore it because it's too much trouble Cons: Very easily found, and determined legions with sabs or high attack can take it.
2: The Invisible - Brick with cloak structures, then fill the rest of the space with defences. Use a VM planet for this. Pros: very difficult to find by anyone Cons: if found (usually by Crit hacks, it's very easy to take)
3: The unassuming - put one warehouse on 5 different, mediocre planets, and build the rest of the planet how you normally would (putting the warehouse on last). Pros: It will be overlooked by most people who find it, and you only lose 1 warehouse if any of them are found. Cons: Easily found by anyone, and usually once found, you'll lose it.
Which is best? do you have your own strategy (I'll update this list)?

I put them on VM gases, then plasma it, the rare basically cloaks it, then brick, so if some does find it their not getting it easily.

Option 1: Total Bricking... Works in preventing a majority of people from having a GOOD chance of invading if found. But having personally invaded a few planets with over 40k total (few months ago), I can say that this isn't an effective strategy when a high power legion finds it. Option 2: Total Cloak... Personally, I feel this is the best option overall. However, generally only higher rank players can effectively do this. They have the tech researched to build Inverse Flux Satellites and they can target Fab Plants for passive cloak. Not really an option for low ranks. Option 3: Spread the love... Pretty much the only option for low to mid rank players. One here, one there, on mediocre planets with sufficient anti-newb defense should effectively prevent the loss of storage units. Low levels will struggle to take them while invasion costs for a VL ExAb Gas planet in exchange for one or two mineral towers would discourage the high ranks that CAN easily invade.

Ideally speaking, I would go with cloak While it would be a reltively easy take once crit hacked, it is not a given--it is a storage planet, which means u can have 50+, or even 60+ space for defense. cloaking only cost 30ish I think, and 20-30 spaces of defense along with passives and what not can make a decent wall that will fend off most lowbies and unorganized strikes. And hopefully the crit hack msg will make u aware of the fact that its coords been compromised(i would probe my good planets if i were crit hacked, wont u?) and that will make organized strikes diffcult as well.
It is especially good if you dont pvp much, with a low action counter, you wont be hacked very often no matter what, and therefore crit hacks is even more far ad in between. chances of losing a fully cloaked planet is extremely low.

Defense means very little if the wrong people find it. Hence my recommendation of uber-cloak (19k+) for those that can get it or spreading the storage out to minimize attention.

I'd use a combo of all tactics. I don't have a storage planet yet, but here's my strategy I'll use when I do (: Colossal (size 75), 5 storage structures, pop structures, lot's of atk and def structures, some cloak...and lastly a warp inhibitor (: This will get the planet to very high pop and with lot's of def the damage will be 1 each hit and high attack will deal cap damage to most players. The cloak will keep it off most peoples scans. And the warp inhibitor will prevent any annoying arties like Bio vaporizers ):

I have found that having right around the 9K cloak mark is just about right for my storage worlds. I have only lost one world so far with this and that was only because I forgot to flux it before I built it up. But I put on 5 of each resource holders on each of my worlds so I don't have as much room either. lol If you are just putting five of one kind on a world then I would say cloak the heck out of it and put on a few defense and attack buildings. The chances that anyone will crit hack that world off you is pretty low. I think the best I ever found off a crit hack in my time playing was a 5X arti world and that was a year ago. lol

I use Colossal Plasmas for storage - the space helps a lot. A full collection of storage buildings takes up 31 space (5 each resource, 1 Polychoron)
You can get it up to 19k or so cloak by using the % bonuses from Meta-Tuned Jammer and Ergospheres.
From there, it's a combination of the standard cloak satellites and cloak buildings like
Chron Shifter Silthion Vessicle Isolation Bureau Dark Pylon Dark Anti-Beacon Resonance Inhibitor Spy Uplink
Plus passive buffs from Fab Plants
With a Colossal planet, not all of that is needed to be fully cloaked, as long as you have the % structures.

Enough cloak to render it unscannable, and protect your ship from hacks with decent cloak or don't piss off people

case in point... 1 day, 9 hours ago Orisi sent you an alert for the Planet: ---- with message: The scariest planet i have ever seen Couple of sabs, and some well used Clusters and a preserved planet flux later, this guy learned the hard way not to place all your eggs in one basket, now i just gotta wait for a crap ton of build extractors to come around. Till then its bricked and hidden to the best of my ability and ive made it a daily habbit to drop all planet artis on it.

I usually only put 5 on one of at least VM in size, crappy production. Bulk the def, couple of attack structures and some artifact structures for extra def/atk and stick a warp inhibitor when I'm satisfied.

I'd go with uber cloak because if you get it above max scan level (think it's at 19K?) and flux it, the only way for someone to scan it is through a critical hack and even then the chances of finding that particular planet are less than half a percent (unless you purger all but your planets or something like that)
