Maximum damage anyone can do to you is

1. Your Deck/2 ex 300deck/2 =150 damage to you even if he has 10 000 attack.

2. Your Rank + 19 ( I stand to be corrected with this formula)

Which ever one is greater is maximum damage someone can do to you. Your defense reduces chance of person getting your max damage cap.

Thus you can find a rank100 thats a frigate (about 110deck) with 2000 hull. This would mean if you hit his damage cap each hit would take 37 Attacks to disable. 37 Hits is 185 energy. Most lower ranks wont spend this much for single disable.

I failed to clarify this properly when I put it up, my bad. I was specifically not looking for the damage cap as applied to your own ship but how much damage your ship does per attack etc, which that very nice link from BinaryMan from the wiki seems to cover pretty well.

Thanks

Damage Cap also applies to their ships. Thus if you see a big ship with little defense, you know you will hit him hard
