With the new change in raiding:

Quote:
Raiding enemy ships now awards unclaimed mineral units and artifact points instead of minerals and artifacts in cargo

there is no longer a reason to have artifacts unstacked. The worry before was that someone would steal a stack rather than just one. Now that worry is gone, having to manually stack them should go also!

The game won't "know" which one you shared if you have multiples and stack them. Plus the game won't chose an already shared artifact to use from a stack of multiples,in lieu of a non-shared. Therefore, I'd rather have my artifacts not forcibly stacked.

So you were trying to give an artifact that was the same one as one you already shared?

It shouldn't matter. If you have 12 of them, you should be able to share it 12 times or 1 time. It shouldn't matter which one is given since they are all the same. Maybe I'm just confused on what you're trying to say.

People should have the option of autostacking. There should be a way to make the stack button permanent so it happens without player input. Some people may not want autostack, but others do.

As far I can tell, from my experience, if you have one artifact share it then get another one and stack the two (the one shared and the new, unshared one) you won't be able to share the stack or actually the new one. In the same fashion if you have one artifact, share it then get another one and stack them, using that type of artifacts will consume the one that isn't shared as opposed to what would make sense, namely using the one already shared. I might be wrong on this but obviously it's easy to experiment if you got a lot of AP/h. I don't : )
What I don't understand is why people find it hard to click the check box then click again on the "Stack similar" after receiving the artifact shipment. However the best compromise would be the one Mark W suggested, making the "Auto-stack" check box permanently on until further notice. Would make everyone happy.
