From what that appears to be, it seems it's badgeless if it's "less OR EQUAL to 40% of your rank AFTER rounding"

not very important, but unless I stepped on a case of freak bug, this need to be fixed or the description changed to the above more accurate version...

The wording is confusing. You get a badge from people who are 40% less than your rank (or a less confusing way to say it, you get badge from anyone at least 60% of your rank). So at rank 182, you can get a badge down to 109 or 110 (depending on the rounding of 109.2)

The wording isn't "confusing" so much as "false." It should either say "less than 40% less than your rank" or "less than 60% of your rank."

X of your rank -> your rank * X (so the current text says "less than .4 * your rank")
X less than your rank -> your rank - X * your rank OR your rank (1 - X) (so using this would make it say "less than your rank * .6, which is the intention)

It's a trick with the wording that a lot of people mess up, like when they confuse "X times as much as" with "X times more than."

Luckily the battle tab doesn't show people outside of the range.

As for legion alerts, if you are only hitting them for a badge, imo that is just kind of sad. I hit those my people alert to send a message: Don't mess with my legion mate or else I will make you regret it. If I want badges I go to my battle tab, no math involved.

Yeah, I guess I've just been short tempered about these things lately.
