Legions allying other legions or more legion space

I think that galaxy legion would be better if legions could ally! because what if your friend is in another legion but you dont want him accidently attacking you? either that or more legion space would be good because my legion has 2 divisions 1 for low ranks 1 for high ranks and more legion space would allow them to combine!

I think that Dan is working on a system like this where you can ally or claim war on another alliance but I am not for sure on that. If someone who knows or Dan could confirm or decline this that would be great thanks.

i think the diplomacy could be open ended. you could be allied, but anyone could break it or put it in jeopardy by intentionally doing hostile actions.
what i would want is: Non-Agression pact(NAP) - both sides are marked as having a NAP. doing any hostile action should display a dialog stating that the action will break the treaty (yes/no). breaking the treaty place the diplomacy status back to neutral (hostile)
peace treaty - both sides are prevented from hostile actions for a period of time. value selected from a dropdown. 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours. cannot be broken.
WAR - alert timers do not apply when alerting enemies with the war status.
Alliance - alert sharing, but for a steep cost. in the legion tab, there should be an option to alert allies. you will have to select the specific legion to a specific legion alerted target, and be charged ( LEVEL * 2 + (LEVEL - TARGETLEVEL ) ). only leader can do this. alliances inherit the same system as the NAP, but if it is broken the alliance is not broken immediately.
all diplomacy alerts with the exception of WAR must be mutually agreed and go to a diplomacy notification button like the join request button. requests can be accepted or rejected.

I was thinking a different effect to those, and a few others:
Neutral- no effect.
Conflict- Starts as soon as 1 legion is attacked by another. points out the legion and member that attacked with the legion and member that got attacked (also clearing up the "who fired the first shot?") This also opens up a "diplomacy comm" allowing a leader or officer to post to the other legion, allowing free comunication between the two.
War- Started by either legion in a conflict. The other legion is much more likely to show up in your battle tab. (because you are actively hunting down the enemy) lasts forever, but can be overturned when an officer or leader submits a yes/no to the other legion to stop. (and can only be answered by a leader or officer of the other legion)
NAP- just like you said, have a yes/no verification beforehand. lasts until a legion member is attacked by the other legion. Possibly, it could remove active reports of legion members between them.
Peace Treaty- just like NAP, but the other legion is much less likely to show up in your battle tab. (you can still be an idiot and break a treaty by force) lasts for 1 day, but can be lengthened an additional day each time until it becomes an alliance.
Alliance- If a peace treaty is maintained for a whole week, it makes them in an alliance. they will never show up in your battle tab, and other abilities that I cannot think of.

I like what Zophah said about most of them, but I think I can add to alliance's effect:
Alliance- Started by sending an alliance request to a legion, if voted in by their officers and leaders, then the following effects take place. -Alerts on planets, Players, and NPCs have a separate alert to 'Alert to entire Alliance'. -You can Send to Alliance members. -You can guard Alliance planets. -Players are unable to hack, attack, or invade anyone in the Alliance. -An 'Alliance Comm' is formed so that all legions in the Alliance can communicate with one another.

Its a Good idea ,
one thing though I would not limit the ability for a player to attack an allied player .
I would add a warning that attack/hack/raid of an ally may precipitate hostility's . then if a player choses to attack/hack/raid anyways an alert be sent to each side of the alliance that Name/legion attacked/hacked/raided Name/legion .
that ways its just like real life some bit players actions could start an all out war or the more alliance minded may intervene and rectify the situation.
the ability to trade/gift to allies would be necessary for reperations when such transgressions occur.
in real life border skirmishes happen all the time so maybe an alliance could have levels , say once allied a timer takes 3 days or a week to go from new to great ,then an incident happens ,alliance goes from great to good if no more attacks in 3 days time back to great but if another attack happens relations go to strained ,1 more attack and all out war .
the timer being preempted by the paying of reperations , scenario I attack allies planet and take it ,my legion leader says give it back play nice under trade tab I have tab for alliance trading and on that tab I have pay reperations which shows the planet ,credits with editable field ,minerals
I can either give an agreed amount of credits/minerals/planet or put a check in a box for return planet to owner plus cost of invasion injured party gets msg on news tab and goes to trade tab alliance and the offer is presented with ok/no/need more to make me like you again buttons click ok and we go from strained back to good or good back to great .
either way alert still goes out to each side as in real life but a quik check of alliance status ie great/good/strained/war would tell me where we stand
