I already changed my race from human to konqul but im still ranking kind of fast. Does anyone have some tips on slow ranking?

Reduce the number of cores (never the quality) that you use. Use 1, 2 at most. Replace these with extra attack.

NPCs offer the best exp to energy ratio.
USUALLY PvP offers the worst.
Don't use relays.
Uninstall cores as you empty them.
ONLy use full cores when ranking (save the energy going to waste).
Research heavily into planet structures, hull and weapons. Artifact planets are the way to go.

ignore your energy bar.... if it caps, IGNORE IT STILL
spend energy only on hacking (you get 0xp per hack)
pay more attention to chat than to the rest of the game

Give all energy to base.

As far as I can see, there are only 2 reasons to slow rank.
1. avoid going out of some of the NPC ranges
2. to let ur tech catch up

For #2, the best solution is defintely use ur energy on bases only. If your base is full, you can try selling ur energy to some other bases. There are ppl who pay to have players enter their legion and put energy into their base, although those bases are usually the bigger ones so ur logistic tech might not be high enough.
other than that.... u might consider doing stellar cartography for some purgers, use some purgers and then go scanning. The mission itself still gives a fairly high amount of exp, but the other 2 steps(purge and scan) gives very very low on those

As for #1... tbh, u only have 2 choices:
do nothing except attack shared NPCs. Let ur energy go to waste.
or, go on NPC spree, NEVER use energy for any other reason. the thing is, u only have so much "exp room" before you fall out anyway. might as well "use those slots" to increase ur chance of getting an NPC. Although it gives more exp per energy, but as long as it's gonna be filled somehow~
(example, if u get 1 exp per energy doing something else and 2 exp per energy while NPCing, with each 50 energy giving an extra NPC shown up. Consider urself able to gain 5 new NPCs AND 400 energy per unit time. Consider that you can gain 400,000 exp before falling out of range:
if you used energy for "something else" you will last 1000 unit time and get 5000 NPC crossing your path.
if you used energy for NPC hunting, you will last 500 unit time and get 500*400/50+500*5=4000+2500=6500 NPC crossing ur path.
so if u r gonna spend energy anyway, NPC is likely the best choice)

you're still doing things other than hacking.... anything (except buffing yourself and hacking) that uses energy gives xp

....in short... stop doing things... even dumping your energy into the base can level you pretty fast


i'm getting close to 600, so now i'm limiting myself only to timed missions (so i don't fall behind on them) and refineries, reynard, renegars, queens, AI's, and a limited few other elites and bosses.... i'm going to maximize the number of elites and bosses i kill that disappear at lvl 601

Two more reasons:

3. to let your tech get AHEAD of those of comparable rank
4. to farm your artifact production for Rescued Prisoners (more tactical officers and/or engineers) and Ship Bots. Plus Androids and all the other stuff you can use in the CT Lab.

Those two kinda go hand in hand. Better tech than others means you need more decks. More decks requires more Ship Bots or Rank Points.
