 a scan/cloak suggestion

Right now, as much as I like that I can easily target any enemy ship that ends up on my ship's log, it kinda feels... cheap. While I can understand that one might want to seek revenge for whatever action caused this enemy to appear there, and that one would go out of their way to find this person in order to take their revenge, the current way things go fails to factor cloak/scan into the equation.

If possible, could these links instead go to a 'Scan for <blah>' screen that charges you energy for each scan attempt to find the offending individual? I can understand if it's just me, but I feel like one should actually go to the effort to track your quarry down.

and then what? after u spend the energy and find him... do you get a link in the log? prob not right? so if this ship hacked me, and i dont have any scan on at the time, but i take my guns off to fit scanners JUST to find him. when i do find him im not in optimum fighting configuration and i need to close the window to reconfigure. to my surprise, whoops closing the window loses the location of the ship and im back where i started. i dont think the victims should PAY to see the ships. AND what if the guy has too much cloak and has spy profession and boosts. like 2 jammers, 2 cloaks, 2 zolazin jammers etc, this ship is immune to attacks! whos going to want to scrap their whole ship to buy a few scanners for a CHANCE to find this person. and when you do find a heavily cloaked ship, u might as well throw a scanner at them, it will do more damage.

LOL agreed. It's fine just the way it is. If you don't want people comming after you, don't run around dissabling them.

I dont think you should dismiss the idea based on the assumption of not being able to target the ship if you switch windows. That was not in the suggestion at all.

As it stands right now you can only locate someone that has used an artifact on you, hacked you , or disabled you. If they did any amount of damage up to but not including disabling you then you will never know who they are. Thats a little wrong too IMO. It should be totally one way or the other. Either you get a log of it all or not. I vote for the all.

Tracking them down should be part of the game as well. This would bring alot more versatility to the game. Cloak should incorperate more then just being able to get past a ships computer to steal a small amount of research. If they cant see you, they shouldnt be able to target you. Or at least have their weapons miss a large portion of the time. Its not like you are just sitting around in space waiting for the universe to come down on you. Ya sure legion alerts should help, depending on how soon you respond. How about they make it easier to find you, like a tracking device that scales with cloak and scan.

Seems like alot has been tailored to the players that just put it all in weapons and hull. Doesnt require much thought or skill to play that way. Just fill their eight slots and mass click or alert others when they fail. How about rewarding the other styles as well.

ok then, so when i find the ship, do i also find the planet they are guarding? if i have to use energy to track them down, i should find them at where they are located at that time..... seem fair? OR we can leave it alone.

Wow, that is a really good idea. Sure, you can guard, or hide behind your favorite planet, but if you get tracked down then we will probably notice the giant planet next to you. That's awesome. Love it. Of course, since the bonuses from your ship enhance the planet you are guarding, the bonuses from your planet should also help your ship. Kinda like a buddy, since that is in fact what you are doing during planetary attacks. This would be a very good trade off. Okay, you can hide but if you are found you may lose double.

On the other hand, this would also make the not so great planets a little better. You might want to colonize a couple large junk planets just to throw in a bunch of cloak to help you hide, or a bunch of attack/ defense to help you survive. Then if you are still found and beaten to a pulp, the planet wasn't a total lose. This would definitely help out in the bully situations too. They have to leave their planet to get you but you wold have the benefits from yours to defend with.
