So, I was talking to one of my mates who switched from Sillixx>Konqul (thunderbolta). I remember someone else doing the same, and both of them said that going from Sillixx>Konqul was a great choice, as they did more damage and took less, so what I'm wondering is if other people think the same.
Right now I'm Konqul, and I WAS thinking about changing to Sillixx, but now I don't think I will...

Depends on whether you need the space that much or not. If you want to maximize your attack, it is great to be konqul. But if you really need the space on the ship for weapons, defense etc it is probably better to be silixx. Depends entirely on your level, tech, etc. Once you get to the end-game, you can equip anything regardless and space is no longer an issue as ship bots will provide all the space you need.
And a little note: ATtack does nothing with the actual damage you take. You might end up taking less damage because you save on energy/number of attacks on a single target, but you will still take the same damage.

Damage is calculated by %DamageCap. This means that Sillixx effectively has a -10% trait.

Yup. Even though I had to drop a weapon and a hull going from Sillixx Explorer to Konqul Excavator it really helped in PvP... I gained attack, despite the weapon loss, and took less to make up for the missing hull.

Silixx would be useful if you had good defense researched for your level, as being able to install more could overall make your ship take less damage, but otherwise it just makes your damage cap higher with lower level tech, so it isn't as useful.

I'd say Sillixx and explorer are the two most counter productive things to be. Sillixx makes you dependent on the extra decks, meaning if you change, you've got to wait ages and spend all rank points on decks to make up for it and re-install everything. Explorer really messes you up for planet scans when you change, because you need to compensate for the 20% loss before you can even scan again, at a low % chance.

Someone in my legion calls it the "Sillixx Trap". Basically you become dependent on those extra decks and when you decide to change race, you realize all the things you can no longer have installed so you want to go back to Sillixx. You spend all your RP on decks, then realize that you maxed out your deck space and are still getting ship-bots wising you spend the RP on engineers/Tactical officers.

As far as this is concerned, GP is cheap enough that I can switch to and fro for scan blitzes.

For non-payers though (like me), explorer is the WORST thing to be full stop, in my opinion.

I've always made this same argument. Although currently I'm just above rank 200 and the Sillixx version of me would kick my ass in pvp the race just never seemed to be worthwhile even though I'd love the extra decks there's just always a better option.
For example a Vygoid will research more efficient modules 20% faster (not accounting for base outputs) that can make up for lesser space on the ship and if you like to run max weaponry all the time nothing is going to outdo a Konqul as far as starter races go.

Sillixx is like Oxycontin.... Has its usefulness, but very easy to become addicted to. I had to save shipbots for a couple weeks and a few rank points even got used when I went cold turkey.

Sillix is great for Pvp!! I don't how you can complain about having far more modules on for your rank. It allows you to not only carry all 8 cannons but also max out your defense and hull. If your complaining about losing decks when you change race then you are changing too soon. Get all the decks you need before you change so you dont have to worry about it. Explorer is a great choice to start the game with so you can find more planets but it quickly loses its usefulness. I started as a Sillix explorer and found tons of great planets that way. Then I switched to sillix fixer and have a legend/insane rep with nearly 900 kills. It is easy to take out most players 100 ranks above me. I wont be changing again until I have taltherian unlocked and by that time I wont need the extra %10 deck space.

Having lots of decks if good specially if you are able to load every thing on you ship. The higher the defense the better it is. If you have high decks and you defense is low then you in trouble.
I'm at 5157 decks right now but if the max that someone has damaged my ships with out using debuffs is about 200. Rsl siege only deals about 130 at my rank of 720+ of course my defense is also high, with a complete set of defense module and about 6k defense crew.

Okay, I used to be a Konqul Fixer. I changed to Silixx Builder, but the deck space i gained was only like 150. This only meant a few added items. 2 Days later, i changed to Konqul Builder. Reason 1- At your level, the bonus you will be getting isn't worth it. Reason 2- As a heavy PvPer the attack bonus is vital for you.
Suggestion- If you are going to change at all, change to Konqul Raider. At your level the bonus will be great for raiding, and you want those Protean Armories! But i would personally stick with Konqul Fixer.

Strm, I think some people really don't know how to optimize their ship for peak combat effectiveness. A person who went from sillux to konqul and gained effectiveness was either: 1. a really low ranked player, or 2. didn't have a good ship set-up.
Konqul might have a bonus for attack, but remember, thats just attack. Sillux can install more weapons to make up for that, plus have extra space for hull and def. Meaning better overall combat effectiveness. However, the benefit of being sillux is not really felt until you get into the upper levels. So, if you want to switch to sillux, I think you should wait until you have at least 1000 decks or so.

It depends on what you want to achieve....if I was a slow ranker I'd go Sillixx no questions asked but if your looking for energy efficiency against npcs and people on your BT there's better choices. Like I said the Sillixx version of myself would tear me a new one because I could afford to add a lot of def modules.
Sillixx is better for the here now and quite sometime down the road while I believe over time with everything else being equal (player ability/pre racial production bonuses) other races can out do it's productivity.
