Please only allow 'occupied' planets that have owners of the current PVP ranks to be scanned (+ or - 40% of current rank).

If you 'outlevel' a planet's owner, the system should check to see if the owner has been 'gone' from the game for 1 month or more, if so then it should mark the planet with a big "I" for invasion ready. If the player is still active, the game should 'drop' the planet from your list since you cannot attack it anymore.

When performing a 'successful scan' for new planets, the system would check your rank versus the planet owner rank, if the planet owner is within +/- 40% of your rank, you'd get the scan, otherwise the system should 'reroll' to see what planet you get. Then the system should roll for a cloak block if applicable and give the player the planet on scan if they succeed.

Note this would 'not' affect unoccupied planets in any way.

With this change, the planet 'invade me warnings and defend me warnings' should also only be sent out to people within the +/- 40% range.

This change will reduce the number of bullies and make planet defenses more on line to the level of the range of attackers in such that a level 240 attacking a level 180 planet with defenses would not have such a easy time as they would attacking a level 20 planet with nothing but defenses on it. This would force people around level 240 to fight planets in their range and not bully people 'under' their range anymore.

Even though I'm not a bully, I don't like this idea for several reasons.

1. There are some players so high level (Kaos and PSICore) that they have no possibility to invade anyone except each other and they're probably friended so can't attack. These players already have no way of hacking to get new planets, assuming they've topped out the scanner tech tree and then installed 5 of the top scanners in-game, and scan blitz down to 5%. Then with the blitz, they find crappy planets, but they would find better planets if they hacked low levels for them.

2. By the same token, the highest level players planets will be pretty much immune to invasions, letting them build nothin but resource production buildings. This will create an even bigger gap between them and the rest of us. As the rest of us can't invade their planets, and they usually friend each other, thus the invasion immunity.

3. There's so many players out there who have already scanned and have planets on their star charts that are occupied by players of all levels. If this new balance is to take place, all 30,000+ accounts need to have the then "ineligble to invade" planets be replaced with unoccupied planets that have exact same resource and size stats as the ineligible planets to compensate.

4. There shouldn't be a limit on the levels of legion mates who help defend the planet. If a level 30 guy gets scanned by a level 50 who wants his planet. The level 30 has no chance, so he needs a level 50 or 100 defender to help hold the planet. Besides, we should still retain a challenge. For some determined people, they can warp out the high level, or wear him down to disabled status. As a level 74 myself, I'd relish the challenge of invading a level 200 player's planet, then tackle the challenge of disabling that player and get a huge sense of satisfication of doing so.

I have more reasons but I'll let you guys digest these for now.

The fact below is now officially going to be added to the FAQ

While rank does set the reasonable limitations, it does not equal any particular stat, i.e. Attack, Defense, Decks, Any amount/type of crew ect. . Thusly one cannot base anything purely off of rank unless the thing is confined purely to rank. AKA The guy can be rank 100 and easily be weaker then a rank 15, so to have this guy go against other rank 100s so that it will be "fairer" is not logical in any fashion.

So ya im against this, anyone can take anyone else's planet, you just got to be sneaky about. Just ask TK3 he stole one of mine after I stole it from him even though I believe there was about 90 ranks difference between us.

There is truly no balance to the system though when a rank 120 can just waltz over a level 30 player and take their planet with no possibility to defend themselves. This suggestion thread would fix that and many other issues that still exist in balance. (A rank 350 should 'never' have any interaction with a rank 25. That would be like Darth Vader saying that he was going to go to the moon of Endor just to beat up some n00b ewok just because the ewok has a shiny that Darth doesn't really need because he is already number 2 in the known universe.)

1: That rank 30 can take it back (even if fluxed) and can defend it if their online. Anyone can take anyone's planet sure more attack/defense will make it easier but that the reason why we rank up, it makes it easier to be strong.
2: Notice how Darth Vader is #2, if he ever wants to be #1 he better take that shiny if it will help, because I assure you #1 is going to do the same to stay #1.
3: Does anyone really need anything beyond food/shelter?

You're a low level, I presume?

I'm sure you'd be singing a different tune if you saw a Exotic or Terran planet controlled by a Rank 150+ player and you manage to invade and flux it away successfully.

I'm middle level, but I have witnessed people 'bullying' lower people by taking their planets and fluxing them away or putting more defense/attack on it than the lower level could beat. Fluxing is less bullying then putting 900 attack/defense on it to tease the previous owner.

woah woah woah woah woah, fuxing a planet or taking it by raw brute force is in no way bullying. Putting defense on is not teasing its called "I dont have a flux but im keeping my investment". Planets are in no way meant to be permanent, them being taken is part of Galaxy Legion, sure it can suck but you can do it too.

thats the name of the game tho. and i bet when you hit higher lvls and scan a massive exotic or terra that a lvl 30 has you will take it away from them too.

I am a high level and someone who was an ally, de-friended me, stole one of my planets and fluxed it. He was a third my size/power/rank. I was p*ssed that he is such a sleeze and I will pound him if I ever see him again.

At the same time it is part of the game. Some days you get the bear. Some days the bear gets you.

Yeah, it's true! You just need to have a little creativity to be successful in keeping/recovering planets. I believe I was at rank 30ish, and coth was rank 120something. At first I thought, "Oh crap! I'll never have that planet back." And, since it was my best planet (at the time, and is still my second best research planet), I was a bit dismayed. But, you have to remember, this is a game, a game with 400,000 planets. There are more for you to find, and you're going to find someone with a good planet who's 20 levels lower than you, and you'll take it from him. If you're lucky enough to have a flux, you'll flux it, because that's the smart thing to do. If you don't have a flux, you'll defend it. That's how a game works.

My next planet is actually controlled by someone of a higher level than me. Here's to a flux in an arti shipment!

I've been thinking about this one again based on the current hack/raid/disable limitations and sharing restrictions. This idea would be ideal to keep new players on the game, since the level 200-300 players can get roughly 7-9 fluxes a day due to incredibly high artifact points per hour. There is no mechanic in place that would protect a n00b (anyone level 150 or lower) from these players from just taking their planets other than preventing them from being scanned in the first place. So I suggest rather than purging anything from anyone, let players keep what they have scanned with all current restrictions and make it so that it does the +/- thing suggested for any 'new' scans. Or Dan could warn that you have 1 week until the system starts purging planets of n00bs from your list and goes through with the full idea.

Disclaimer: I have never up to this point had a planet stolen from me so I am not necessarily writing this to protect myself.

Diplomacy is the better part of my strategy.

Funny thing just happened -- a rank 3 character just colonized a planet and it was immediately invaded by a rank 83 who also got the alert. I think it is funny because it shows that new players have no chance if they did the reroll option (which means their protection is gone). Grats to the official rank 83 bully! Ni______ D__n

I don't think that they get that many fluxes. Exaggerate much?

Pretty sure that if you've plugged on to level 150, you're not a noob.

When they restart (which no one typically recommends), they are given fair warning that they won't have protection.

Part of the game is accepting that there are players who are further along than you, and that they are stronger. Eventually, you'll be stronger, and will have the chance to get an exotic from a level 22, who (due to his low level) can't hold on to it. And when you take it, guess what? He'll be able to colonize the next best planet on his star charts. His game won't end, even though he'll be quite disappointed at the loss of an amazing planet.

I got 3 of them yesterday. My Artifact is >1000 per hour. I could see someone getting that many in a day. Every day, no but once in a while, sure, that's how randomness works.

Or if your a realy low level you can turn around and sell said awsome planet to a high level for more creds than you'll use in the next 50 levels, and mabye even a few arties, and let him worry about holding onto it. By the time you managed to get through those creds you'll be big enough to hold your own planets.
