Maximizing Planets

There are ways to maximize your planets' production. Here are some of the ways. You don't HAVE to do these to have good planets but they will help.

Contents

General

1) Colonize the best planet (terra, barren, desert) you can in terms of size and resources.
2) Maximize its size with Quasi-Spacial Expanders to get it to very massive.
3) Maximize its resources using Planetary Data Optimizers and Terraforming Devices.
4) Use device (Gaia Seed, Planetary Sentox, Gamma Crystallizers) respectively.
5) You will be able to get a 17x resource, Colossal planet.
6) Maximize your passive defense/cloak via artifacts.

Mega-Colossal

1) Colonize the best planet Icy planet you can in terms of resources. If it is Very Large in size, move on to step 2. If the planet is Large or smaller, find a different planet or keep following step 2 until you make it Very Massive.

2) Maximize its size with 2 Quasi-Spacial Expanders to get it to Very Massive in size.

3) Use a Permafrost Sub-Network (if available).

4) Maximize its resources using Terraforming Devices, Planetary Data Optimizers, Emuneration Crystals and/or Trellith Resequencers; possibly in conjunction with the racial abilities of Mylarai, Taltherian and Kronyn if one resource is lagging behind.

Note: Contrary to previous advice that steps 4/5 could be taken in any order, it is best to perform step 4 BEFORE step 5 as the Melter also increases all resources by 2 levels regardless of caps. Terraformers, Optimizers and racial abilities will not get you beyond 15x mega rich. Emuneration crystals or Trellith resequencers can be used to increase the artifact production to 20x mega before using the melter, finishing with a 17x/22x/17x oceanic planet.

5) Use a Mass Surface Melter artifact. (Note: while it is still possible to place a Permafrost Sub-Network on the planet after this step, it will not receive the double bonuses from being deployed initially on an Icy planet).

6) Use a Quantum Hydro-Meliorator (if available).

7) Maximize your passive defense with Gravitic Amplifier artifacts and your passive cloaking with Interspacial Fold Generator artifacts. Both of these artifacts are dropped by rank 310 Lazuli Fabrication Plant NPC's.

Mega-Hyper Exotic

1) Make sure you have an Assimilation Locus*.
2) Invade an Icy planet, preferably with a Permafrost Sub-Network or a Volcanic planet with a Convoy Heat Seeker. Alternatively, use a planet that has rings, moons or ruins*.
3) Guard the planet, use the Assimilation Locus, use the Hyper-Terraformer.
4) Increase artifact production to 20x using Enumeration Crystals or Trellith Resequencers.

  • If you don't use a planet that has been attacked, you can use a Galactic Concorde station which will give you a +1 mining/+1 artifact over using it on an invaded planet. If you did invade a planet, you can wait to deploy the station 9 months later, or use a Mylarai Build Extractor after 9 months to extract and then re-deploy the station, gaining the bonus.

You now have an 13x all massive Exotic planet getting a bonus +2 mining, +1 research or a bonus +3 mining (depending on if you went Icy or Volcanic).

You can use two more terraformers to get it to 15x all and one Quasi-Spacial Expander to make it Very Massive.

From real life experience, the VM 15x Mining/Research, 20x Artifacts all will give you at least +40 mining, +63 artifact, +44 research. This gives you over 2,500 resources per hour from one planet. This can be boosted a little more if you invaded the planet and used an Assimilation Locus. (These weren't available when I made mine and I don't have every artifact building so you can get even more out of it).

Rift

Toxic (of any size) to 16x/15x/15x using terraformers/data optimizers/race abilities.
Mining to 20x using 4 Trellith Resequencer
Artifacts to 20x using 5 Trellith Resequencer or Enumeration Crystals
Research to 26x using 5 Trellith Resequencer followed by 6 Data Cubes
Isolytic Irradiator to bring the whole planet to 22,22,28
Rift it to 37x, 37x, 43x.

Personally, I wouldn't waste the Trellith Resequencers for that and would just go for a toxic at 16/20/15, then irradiate, then rift. Use the cubes if you want, its less important to save them then the Trellith Resequencers.

Toxic/Irradiated

1) Colonize a Very Large Toxic planet that is Average, Very Abundant, Rich or Extremely Rich.

2) Use Toxic Purifiers to get to 16x Mega Rich Mining. (If you're on odd-numbered multipliers like 1x, 3x, 5x, etc... use one terraformer to get to even numbers BEFORE getting to 15x, so you can make a 16x.)

3) Maximize your passive defense/cloak via artifacts.

4) Maximize the planet's size with quasi-spacial expanders.

5) Once you have a 16x Mega-Rich Mining Toxic planet with max'd passive defense and cloak and size, you can go a step further by turning it into an 18x Mega-Rich Irradiated planet with an Isolytic Irradiator from the Potent Residuum mission.

Planet Enhancement Using Racial Abilities

from StolenPlanet's forum post: http://galaxylegion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=31548

This is just a quick reference guide. It does NOT take into account Terraformers, Enumeration Crystals or Trellith Resequences. Likewise, it doesn't talk about Quasi Expanders; though I do comment about Melters, Gaia Seeds, etc. This is simply a bare bones look at planet building using only the racial advantage.

Now another question that is hotly debated is this, do you give up planet size for faster planet completion? Primarily, this is related to converting gas planets into plasmas. Should you take 45 days to boost the gas planet from zero artifact production to 15x Mega? Or should you opt for a lesser sized planet, but one that could reach 15x Mega sooner? I think you should the second option.. If I get an awesome planet in 32 days instead of 45 days, then that is 13 days of extra production I am getting; not to mention the fact that I am now 13 days closer to finishing a second planet. Desiring speed over planet size would mean my order of planet project preference is as follows:

1. Icy Very Large - Mass Surface Melter - Transforms an Icy world into an Oceanic world, enhancing its size 2 and all resources by 2 in the process. It will make a Very Massive planet with 69 spaces. You could also go with a Large Icy that becomes a Massive Ocean with 63 spaces. Assuming a starting point of Rich artifact either way, then it will take 19 clicks or 32 days to perfect this planet. As tempting as it may be, ignore the Average sized Icy.

2. Ocean Massive (natural scan) - Assuming a starting point of Rich artifact, then it will take 19 clicks or 32 days to perfect this planet.

3. Desert Very Large - Gamma Crystallizer - Transforms a desert planet into a Crystal world, enhancing its size by 1, and all resources by 2. It will make a Massive planet with 63 spaces. Assuming a starting point of Rich artifact, then it will take 19 clicks or 32 days to perfect this planet. As tempting as it may be, ignore the Large sized Desert.

4. Metallic Very Massive (natural scan) - Assuming a starting point of at least Average artifact, then it would take 24 clicks or 40 days to perfect this planet.

5. Gas Very Massive - Phasic Chain-Ionizer - Transforms a gas planet into a Plasma world, enhancing its size by 1, research by 2, and defense by 300. Research: Rich. It will make a Colossal planet with 75 spaces. It will take 45 days to perfect this planet.

6. Barren Very Large - Planetary Sentiox - Transforms a barren planet into a Sentient world,Boosting its size by 1 and all resources by 2.Sentient worlds also provide 700 natural attack and defense. It will make a Massive planet with 63 spaces. Assuming a starting point of at least Average artifact, then it would take 24 clicks or 40 days to perfect this planet.

7. Barren Very Large - Octafari Hydroshifter - Transports vast quantities of water from an existing Octafari world, converting a barren planet to an oceanic, and increasing its size and all resources by 1. It will make a Massive planet with 63 spaces. Assuming a starting point of at least Average artifact, then it would take 24 clicks or 40 days to perfect this planet.

8. Volcano Very Large - Thermionic Intensifier - Transforms a volcanic planet into a Demon world, enhancing its size by 1, attack by 800, and all resources by 1. This would create a Massive with 63 spaces. Assuming a starting point of at least Average artifact, then it would take 24 clicks or 40 days to perfect this planet.
