Defense is one of the ten basic ship statistics that will define your capabilities in the game. Players start with 5 defense, provided by the 5 Helmsmen. It acts to counter Attack.


Benefits

Defense reduces the amount of damage taken in each attack.


Improvements

Defense can be improved by installing defense modules on your ship, and by purchasing additional Helmsmen with Rank Points. Each point spent earns you two Helmsmen (and thus 2 points in Defense).


Invasion Defense

Some planetary structures will increase your planetary defense, but only during planetary invasions. A higher invasion defense improves your chances at defending a planet. The maximum invasion chance of an attacker is set at 90%. The Xecti race bonus applies to invasion defense.
