Deep Station Y-14 has been experiencing strange phenomena since an artifact was brought aboard yesterday. The science team would like outside assistance to study the effects and hopefully determine their causes.
Rewards (If Sucessful): 4 Relic Badges (awarded to all ships with completed, non-failed tasks)
Phase 2 of this mission will automatically begin.
If Mission Fails: An alternate follow-up phase of this mission will automatically begin.
Random: The Tenebris Discovery will automatically begin (time loop).
Failure: The Tenebris Discovery (Early Timeline) will automatically begin.
Success: The Tenebris Discovery (Late Timeline) will automatically begin

Rexel: I am station chief Rexel. Let me fully brief you before coming aboard.
You: Tell me what has happened
Rexel: Well, ever since we brought the artifact aboard, we've been remembering things that we haven't done before.
You: You too...
Rexel: Others at the station have reported similar feelings. We had first assumed there was some kind of viral outbreak.
You: ...but I haven't even boarded yet...
Rexel: The artifact must be causing it, but we're not sure how.
You: Have you run any tests?
Rexel: We're not sure where to start. Perhaps a nano-
You: Nanoscale analysis? No. I'm not sure why, but something tells me it wont work.
Rexel: Perhaps we should run some temporal scans.
You: If the artifact is responsible for any temporal anomalies, I would suggest a full chronophase analysis.
Rexel: We don't have the equipment for that, but with your assistance, we could set something up.
You: Where did the artifact come from?
Rexel: The expedition team found it in the Tenebris system.
You: We should return to the region....see if there's any other alien technology or clues that could shed some light on this.
Rexel: That entire sector is engaged in an intense war. The team retrieved it at great expense. You are sure you want to go back there?
You: Yes... something tells me it is vitally important. I cant explain it.
Rexel: This whole... routine... seems familar.
You: If the artifact is dangerous as I think, we should consider....destroying it.
Rexel: Probably for the best, but let's complete our scans first. We need to learn as much as we can.
You: Agreed. I'll make sure that at least 10 members of the team finish their analysis before we eject it.
Rexel: Such a shame. We went through a lot of effort to retrieve it.

Tasks
Task 1: Run Chronophase Analysis
In order to determine what is causing the temporal anomalies, the team will need to assist the scientists with constructing the receivers and performing the tests.
- Note: Must be at least Rank 100 to start this task.
Task Type Mission
Requires: 30,000 RP, 500 Energy, 15 Spy Probe - Resources, 20 rounds
Completion Requirements: 600,000 RP, 10,000 Energy, 300 Spy Probe - Resources
Rewards: 200 xp per round, Chronophase Receiver upon completion.
- Chronophase Receiver: Planet artifact: Adds 400 passive cloak (up to 7k total)
Task 2: Investigate Tenebris System
Return to the embattled Tenebris system and gather further information about the region where the artifact was found
- Note: Must have at least 500 Max Energy to start this task.
Task Type: Planet Investigation
Requires: Use 30 Tenebris Probes, 500 energy per use.
- Tenebris Probe – 500 energy to use - [Temporary Item - Legion Mission] - Probes an enemy planet for details relating to the Tenebris artifact. The planet must recently be attacked (5min) with 10 or fewer population. Tenebris Probe Effect Duration: 24 hours
Completion Requirements: 15,000 energy
Rewards: zero xp, Dormant Tenebris Relic
- Dormant Tenebris Relic: Planet Structure – Size 1, Mining 1, Research 2. Once Built this structure can be upgraded (once, for 250 energy and 90,000 Exotic Matter) to become an Active Tenebris Relic: Planet Structure – Size 1, Mining: 1, Research: 2, Artifact: 2, Cloak: 200
Task 3: Destroy Tenebris Artifact
(FAILURE THREAT)
After the team has performed the analysis, eject the artifact into the surrounding space... and destroy it.
- Note: Must have at least 300 Max Energy to start this task.
- Note: You will automatically fail Task 3 if you attempt it unless 200 rounds of Task 1 have been completed by other legion members first.
- Note: There is a chance that your ship will take massive damage (99.5% of current hull) for every round completed in task 3.
Task Type Mission
Requires: 300 Energy, 10,000 Exotic Matter (30 rounds)
Completion Requirements: 9,000 Energy, 300,000 Exotic Matter
Rewards: ZERO xp, 3 Relic Badges
Models of Success
The following table shows the kind of participation/progress shown to get varying types of success chances. Please note, This is a work in progress and data is in process of being collected (see forum topic).
There may be instances where it seems like there is a big gap in the number of ships on a task. This is not necessarily a requirement, only the most current data available. There may also be different combinations of spread that bring these chances. Partial completions also may be factored in these cumulative requirements. Alternate combinations will be recorded and posted as well in an effort to record the minimum amount needed for varying chances.
