The Closing Barrier Sileena's Signal The Vetheral Prisoner

Daily Mission Briefing

As I was returning from a mission, my systems alerted me to a simple backchannel ping it received. The ping was delivered using the protocol we set up for the transport probe's modified navigational relay. I have no doubt it came from Sileena..

Mission Dialogue

Ravyn: The only other person with knowledge of the probe was her.
I thought we detected the probe self-destructing shortly after we escaped?

Ravyn: Yes, we did, but Sileena was thoroughly familiar its protocols. She must have found a means to recreate the signal.
So she's alive....

Ravyn: ... but clearly captured. She would have used her ansibles to contact us otherwise.
The nav relay comm requires a close proximity connection.

Ravyn: Exactly, within 5AU. Her captors must have been transporting her covertly near where my ship was located.
If she found a means to communicate, why not send a distress signal?

Ravyn: She may have been only able to send single packets of data with what she had. It makes sense that she would try to target the nav relay in that case. None of my other contacts would have been able to do that.
They could be taking her anywhere.

Ravyn: I received the ping while returning from within Terran Outsider space. We'll need to go back to get started.
How far in?

Ravyn: The ping was far from the Orbisbarrier system, but we still need to be careful. With the Terran Outsiders collaborating with the Stryll, they may be utilizing unorthodox extraction techniques on her.
Most of your cloaking upgrades came from her designs. Should we assume they have been compromised?

Ravyn: Sileena and I, as well as many elite spies of our type, employ very effective anti-extraction implants. Dead or alive, there's no easy way into our secrets without pure consent.
Nonetheless, they will try.

Ravyn: My designs are safe for now... but eventually, they will succeed in obtaining them from her... one way or another.
Where do you think they are taking her?

Ravyn: Knowing their methods, they are most likely escorting her to a specialized interrogation facility. The Stryll will have a hand in this, as well.
This feels like deja vu. We've already rescued her form the Terran Outsiders once before.

Ravyn: Sileena saved your life... and mine! Even if we ignored the value she represents to our cause, we owe her this.
I know. We can't turn our back on her now.

Ravyn: That being said, the Terran Outsiders will be much better prepared for any sort of rescue attempt this time.
More sector wardens?

Ravyn: Beyond that. Much of my intel comes from intercepting comm traffic. They've been significantly limiting internal correspondence during this time. I cannot easily get a bearing on where she may be headed.
Any word from your sources?

Ravyn: My contacts within that territory have also been cut off due to new travel restrictions imposed by the government. They are working on getting me some intel soon, but we can't wait for it.
Then let's proceed with the search.

Ravyn: We haven't fully charted that area, but my systems have listed some priority search targets.
Habitable planets?

Ravyn: Not necessarily. The Terran Outsiders are probably not taking her to a heavily populated colony. It increases the risk of her location being leaked.
Send me what data you have. We'll spread out.

Ravyn: Already sent... but let's brief each other periodically with our findings. If we stay coordinated, our chances of discovering her increase dramatically.
Will do.

Ravyn: Stay safe, commander.
