The Raix Effect: Chapter 5
After a lengthy debate, an alliance has been signed with the Tej-Sheel. Not to be outdone, the Tej-Brask quickly form a pact of their own: with the Crimson Blades. With the {Your Race} fleet behind them, the Tej-Sheel propose an offensive against the Garathon system... to go after one of the Tej-Brask's isolated raix supplies.
Daily Mission Briefing
My leaders have given word that an alliance has been signed. I am pleased. With your help, we can end this war, and rid the Tejiar of our raix dependence. As you may have heard, the Tej-Brask have signed an alliance of their own. There is much to do.
Mission Dialogue:
- Let's get to work.
>Tell me, how many other raix weapons does the Tej-Sheel have in stock?
- Commander, I know you are eager, but our relationship is still quite fresh. Trust will take time, and we prefer to keep certain details about our strategic plans... secret, for now.
>Krydul, if you want to end tthis war, we both need to be in sync about these plans.
- As I said, in time.
>I'm afraid neither of us has the luxury of time. The Tej-Brask have already secured an alliance with The Crimson Blades.
- Alright... alright. I'll tell you this. We are working on another weapon, but there have been... delays.
>How close is it to completion?
- Nearly halfway complete. Keep in mind that less than 5% of the raix we procure is pure enough to refine for weaponized purposes. Supply lines are running thinner. We need new sources soon.
>You're nott going to win with the weapon alone. I hope you have a deeper strategy.
- Of course. The weapon is simply insurance. Our strategy is to siphon off the Tej-Brask's supply of raix, while completing our research.
>You want to starve them.
- Given their political situation, even just a small disruption in their supply will cause unrest. With our research, we have adapted to needing smaller amounts than the Tej-Brask, but we are anxious to rid ourselves of the dependency altogether.
>What is the status of the research effort?
- We're continuing to make progress, but finding new subjects for the tests has grown difficult as of late.
>Why?
- As the war continues, subjects want to be paid directly in raix... and that is not easy given our supply constraints.
>Well, if we were to go after their stock, where would we start?
- Our best option is currently the Garathon system.
>Garathon. We've scanned that region. The Tej-Brask seem to keep a lot of ships there.
- They do, but the location sits against the edge of their network. It is quite a distance from their nearest fleet deployment area. Reinforcements will take a lot longer to arrive there.
>I see.
- This should give us enough time to punch through and capture both their stock, and their refineries.
>An attack of such a size will leave a major hole in your defense.
- Not with the help of your ships. Besides, the Tej-Brask wouldn't risk sending in a huge counter-attack quite yet. We'll be ready.
>I hope the supply in Garathon is worth it.
- It will be.
