Daily Mission Briefing

The transport probe was successful in locating the target entry for the BioResearch ships, as well as some disturbing details about the situation in that system.

Mission Dialogue

Ravyn: The transport probe was successful in locating the target entry for the BioResearch ships, as well as some disturbing details about the situation in that system.

Sileena: The system is in a remote portion of Terran Outsider territory.
Was the probe detected?

Sileena: Although it gave no evidence of that, the routine visits of the Bioships have halted. At the very least, they are taking extra precautions.
I was afraid that might happen...What other data did it send?

Sileena: The site is protected by a massive Orbisbarrier. It surrounds the inner half of the entire system. It's impossible to penetrate the area undetected.
So they have been developing new shielding technology after all.

Sileena: The probe determined that several hundred emitters are feeding energy directly from solar conduits. It's the largest shield I've ever detected. I'm more amazed at how it was kept secret from us.
What did we learn about the lab?

Sileena: The lab was not on the planet that the probe arrived on, but it has to be within that system. There are 3 other planets within the Orbisbarrier. Whatever it is, it is hidden well.
Maybe we can get inside again...and hijack another set of codes.

Sileena: As I said, The Terran Outsiders have halted direct transport... at least for now. No one is getting in or out through the new Archotage access point.
Well, a direct assault doesn't sound advised with that type of defense.

Sileena: No, we need to exhaust every other option before we'd even consider that.
It doesn't sound like many options remain.

Ravyn: We might be in luck. I just received a heartbeat signal from the probe. It hasn't self-destructed yet.
I thought it was supposed to do that automatically.

Ravyn: It does, when it determines the detection risk factor is too high. It must still be within a safe area, but it's not providing any additional data right now.
Can we send it commands?

Ravyn: Yes, basic ones.
The probe is our only link to the inside. It may be the key to getting in.

Sileena: It has no weapons, tools, or defenses. 85% of its power is used to maintain cloak, the remainder is used for sensors, propulsion, and the ansible.
What if the probe collided with one of the emitters? Would it be enough to disrupt a small enough area to pass through?

Sileena: Not likely. We'd have to take out multiple emitters to weaken an area to that degree.
What if we interfaced directly with the probe... and used it to hack the emitters one at a time?

Ravyn: Hmmmm. The ansible doesn't have enough data capacity for an interfaced advanced enough for remote hacking... but we could re-purpose its navigational relay for something like that.
That would mean that we'd need to get in close.

Ravyn: Very close... we'd need to be within the system itself, no more than a few thousand kilometers from outside the shield boundary.
Time to see how well these cloaking upgrades perform...

Ravyn: I can program the hacks to wipe the emitters' core memories simultaneously. That way we should be able to get in before The Terran Outsiders compensate.
We can't avoid detection once we breach the shield.

Ravyn: Of course, but once inside, we'll split up. Each one of us will head to each planet separately. 3 planets, 3 ships.
Like you said, The Terran Outsiders may close the shield breach by the time we find the lab and destroy it...

Sileena: Yes - it may be a one-way trip... assuming our ships even make it that far.
Alright. I'll alert our nearby fleets to remain on standby as a backup.

Sileena: Let's get started.
