Current revision as of 00:26, 3 May 2024
Defensive Modules are the backbone of a ship's defense. The more defensive modules there are, the lower the chance that the user will take damage from enemy ships.
Defensive Modules come in two kinds: Thrusters, and Dampeners. It's important to make the distinction, because 4 thrusters and 4 dampeners can be installed at once on a ship.
The current maximum Defense that can be obtained purely from researchable equipment (ignoring any artifact, Race or Profession bonuses) is from 4 Trans-Entropy Drive-Mark IIIs and 4 Exergonic Inverter-Mark IIIs, which give 5784 Defense for 784 decks and take a total upkeep of 2,600,000,000 (2.6 billion) credits per day.

Thrusters
Thrusters are devices which are used in order to increase the maneuverability of a vessel. In Galaxy Legion, however, they simply perform the task of increasing the defensive capabilities of the warship.

2Note: It is NOT advisable to upgrade these due to the effort used in obtaining the upgrade artifact. It is better used on the Silthion Hybrid Utricle
Dampeners
Dampeners are devices which mitigate the G-forces which are exerted upon a vessel (and its occupants) during rapid changes in speed. In Galaxy Legion, though, they simply add a defensive bonus to the vessel, same as Thrusters.

1 Each requires 40 Prejoran Tech to build. You should have 80 by the time you unlock the blueprint, you will need to perform additional Prejoran missions or buy extra Prejoran Tech in the Galactic Trade Centre or (unofficial) facebook trade groups in order to build the second two.
2 As this is built via the Ship tab, its scrap value is dependent on the module's condition.
Legion Mission-Exclusive Defense Mods
These ship modules are available only from completing specific tasks during Legion missions, which are a special type of collaborative mission that is undertaken by an entire legion rather than just individual players. Each mission has three tasks that must all be completed, but each player may only complete one of the tasks, meaning a legion must carefully decide who does each task. Legion missions last for three days (72 hours), but this can be both increased - or decreased - by spending Galaxy Points.
