Research is one of Galaxy Legions' resources, it is gained through planets that have research producing Structures and your Scientists hired onto your ship. Research is used to gain new Equipment and Structures by "researching" the nine research trees. These being....

Advanced Weapons
By researching this line one will gain access to new and better Weapons for one's ship and Turrets for one's base. The player begins with Auto Cannon as their basic weapon this weapon requires no research in this tree. If there are planet modules for a particular tier, the player gets access to those at the same time as the first ship weapon on that tier. If there are base modules for a tier, the player gets those at the same time as the second ship weapon on that tier.

By researching this line one will gain access to new and better Shields and Grids. Upon beginning the game, you do NOT have access to any shield modules/structures. Upgrades to the shields are available through this tree. Once you have performed enough research an option to turn your research directly into credits becomes available. This option will appear in a blue-outlined box at the bottom of the screen, and will inform you exactly how many CR you can receive for the research points you have around.
This option appears to become available at exactly 47,400,000 Research points spent on other areas of research.
The exact rate of exchange is 25,000 CR for 1 Research point.
