You need a hacker deterrent - scanners and cloaking will help.
Also, cloaking hides your modules from the enemy, making them more likely to avoid you or blunder into you.

His abillity to disable is impressive, no need to hack, just let the dumb arses hack him and he can score free kills!

Should put your abillity to disable ahead of your abillity to hack. I simply don't understand people saying : i'm going to hacking build.
I'm like :Why not have a disable build ?! Isn't it better ? :shock:
You only lose a few minutes worth of research points when someone hacks you anyway, hacking is only dangerous at high ranks when your enemies carry armories of time manipulators and can threaten to hack your planets out.

Sha'din Algorithm (Uses Left: 47)
All you need is a bit of cloak and that artifact up there ^ to hack. Sometimes all you really need is a dark pyramid a few NPC modules. Just saying.

Mass hacked someone 250 ranks above me today, recorded everything onto the legion comm :D

Hack Successful. You steal 807 Research Points from the enemy database
Hack Successful. You steal 776 Research Points from the enemy database
Hack Successful. You steal 335 Research Points from the enemy database
Hack Successful. You steal 293 Research Points from the enemy database
Hack Successful. You steal 415 Research Points from the enemy database
Hack Successful. You steal 815 Research Points from the enemy database
Hack Successful. You steal 821 Research Points from the enemy database You gain 1 Blue Badge

Hacking deterrent: Insane rep, Disruptor Cannons. I don't carry cloak partially to scare 'em off.

Who are you gunna hack? The guy you know can kill you, or the guy who might be able to kill you?

null fuses require 2000 arti-points
2 planets needed for 2000 arti-point cap
level 4 needed for 2 planets

thus, minimum level for null fuse = level 4
