Colonize planet. 0% development. Wait 5 days without visiting planet and it will be at 100% development but won't update your total income per hour; visit the planet, suddenly you get the full development in your income. I went through my entire list and was apparently missing 400 mining and 350 artifacts per hour due to this "bug". It should be recalculated daily at least, when the development gets 20% added.

I didn't see this in wiki; is it intended ? I don't see how someone is going to randomly guess this behavior.

It's a function, an unfortunate one, of how the planet databases are organized. Or so I'm told. Apparently Dan is working on a solution, but it's been a problem for a very long time.

I kind of wonder if it updates when an enemy or legionmate views it.

Theoretically, all the system needs to do is enumerate through all planets each day, triggering what is triggered on getting the data when visiting a planet. It just needs to be done with low priority so as not to kill the database.

I wonder if having planet production reset at a fixed time, like 00:00 zulu, rather than tracking each colonization time would help ease the load.

with over a million planets a once a day refresh would be the way to go..
or maybe they could add a new view that puts planets in list of order taken so we can just look through the ones that will need refreshing?

just did this morning. And got my research up another 150 points. Crazy to think that you had to check them all the time.

Updating a million records isn't that bad, you just have it run low priority until it's done. Or do it in batches like 1000-10000 enumerating.

As I recall there used to be a column in the planet screen that showed the development level of your planets. I think it'd be very handy to re-instate it so that we could sort by development and quickly check in on all the planets that need it.
