100 Diversion Tactics from Task 1 needs to be used first before a person can start Task 2, yet one of my members completed it actually even before 40 Diversion Tactics were used. Wat.

why didn't you just post in the main thread ? viewtopic.php?f=7&t=40071&start=0we are just playing it by ear. i figured having any available info in the wiki is better than just having everyone fail automatically when joining the new task ...

It's not actually a "Derp", as you put it.
Basically these tasks work much in the same way as the success chance of your LM's do. In that the more something is done, the better your chances.
At 0 Diversion Tactics used, anyone attempting to Join Task 2 should fail automatically.
However as more people use their "Diversion Tactics", the chances of you failing Task 2 when you click Join get lower and lower, until finally 100 Diversion Tactics are used, and you can no longer fail the task.
From your screenshots, what we can deduce is that 2 of your members were extremely lucky in that joining so early didn't fail them.

When the LM first came out about 5 people joined T2 before anyone begun T1 and all of them didn't get auto fail until they killed their first T2 npc

I've seen no evidence that the status when you sign up affects your chance of failing, only the status when you make an attempt.
