Does anyone else think frivolous legion alerts are causing a decline in PvP?
For example I disabled someone, then about 16 hours later, I disabled again from my BT. Valid badges were taken for both, yet this player deemed it worthy to alert me, and have a rank 400+ disable me (I'm mid 70) and multi raid.
If people don't learn to fight their own battles it will only lead to weak mid rankers and low levellers who can't PvP because they get alerted for normal hits.

Badge hits and no alerting are courtesies, that legions aren't required to give you. If you don't like it, only hit people with no legion or weak legions. That's what I did until I became strong enough to handle myself.

"Badging" is NOT PvP, unless PvP means pussy vs pussy. If you attack someone they have every right to beat the crap out of you, and failing that, get someone else to do it. Whether or not you were hunting "badges" is irrelevant. That is SO funny. And also true.

Whether or not you were hunting "badges" is irrelevant. I wasn't hunting red badges, I don't have any immediate need for them until I get some more medal points, I just enjoy killing other ships, but try to do it respectfully by making sure I get a badge for every kill I make. It just seems a weak manoeuvre to run away for help because someone kills you and you can't kill them back. I won't alert the 400 guy, I will do my best to disable him myself, though unlikely given he is 6 times my rank.

PVP should be cutthroat and no rules. Whatever is allowed within the confines of the game mechanics, do it. If you want to alert someone, go for it. If you get alerted, deal with it and badge them back.
If you don't like getting disabled, build a stronger ship.

Oh I am doing all I can to disable the rank 400 er. I have little problem with getting disabled, the bulk of my disables are from legion alerts and high rankers hitting me. If anything the babying of lower rankers will hurt them, why not advise them on how to build a stronger ship so I won't be able to disable them??

You have just done a complete 180 from your original theme.

In what way have I 180'd? If it was me saying I am doing all I can to disable him, I didn't mean legion alert or anything like that, if I want him killed I will do it myself...

Seems pretty simple to me, if you can't handle being alerted, then don't commit any alertable offenses.
P.S. I'll tell you a little secret, being alerted is a good thing. That's right, a good thing. It means guaranteed hotlinks to multiple targets on your News tab that absolutely cannot be sporting a Halycon Trap for at least 24 hours.

I didn't perform any offense (to the best of my knowledge)... I can see the benefit in that sense, especially if someone a little closer to my rank hits me. Also I think it was you who was the first person to ever disable my ship

Also I think it was you who was the first person to ever disable my ship You can only send an alert against players who have disabled, hacked, raided, invaded, or used an artifact on you in the last 24 hours.
So without question you did committed one of those offenses to have been alerted.
Anyway, glad to have helped you get over your fear of being disabled early.

Oh I definitely disabled them, I meant offense in the sense of flagrant farming, multi hack and raiding etc. I think it was you, I applied to your legion as a level 2, thinking it was worth a shot...

Likewise, you cannot even see other ships yet at level 2.

What is the objective definition of "farming"? I see it mostly used as a pejorative against people that don't buy into the "PVP should only be badges" ideology. I don't actually see how zeroing for resources/medals/leaderboards can be considered more "farming" than hitting everyone on your BT 1 time every 12 hours. Spread around the hurt, it's not like you are being less aggressive, you are just being more dilute in your targeting. Considering that ships literally alert me for single badges more than once a week, I also don't see how it benefits me to spread out my actions. " Farming". Pretty sure that "Farming" is a content free slur hurled by players at anything they don't like.

Find a good strong legion with high ranks to help you. (Look at the first part of my sig !) And alert the rank 400 to get zero'ed.
