why has the space for cloaking satellites not been reduced? out of all structures i think this should take up the least amount of space, as the 'srtructure' is technically not even on the planet. The way i look at it now one quantum jamming satellite takes up four spaces, whilst a disruption mine takes up 2. i think that the space scaling requirement should be in effect for cloaking devices too.

I think their goal with this update was to make you able to rely on things besides cloak; most people were using cloak a lot already, but people only used attack and defense on a planet under direct threat. This update wouldn't make cloak overpowered compared to attack and defense anymore, because those are now viable for planetary defense.

i still feel that attack and defence arnt a viable option for keeping your planet while maximizing resources. if someone finds your planet there are artifacts that reduce planetary defence. If a high level finds you and likes what they see theyre gonna take your planet. no matter what. the best way to keep your planets is by cloaking them. that keeps them safer from scanning and hacking. it would just help all around to add cloaking satellites to the new scaling system. Honestly, i would prefer to see all buildings, production, cloak, and population all scale accordingly, but i feel that cloaking is the most crucial thing that needs to scale at this time.

It depends what sort of "high level" person you're talking about; if you mean 300+ or something then yes, but you're not going to be able to cloak it enough to hide it from them anyway.

I believe there's only 1 artifact that reduces a planet's defense, and it's only 15%.

You don't need to protect all of your planets anyway; if you're getting about 100 resources per hour or less from it then you don't need to protect it all that well. (unless you just have low planetary structure research; but if it's less than large and rich then people probably won't fight over it, and probably not much even then).

If you have about 1-2 thousand combined attack and defense on your best planets you should be pretty well set; I know that would probably keep me off. I think attack counts for invasion defense, but I don't remember where I read that so I'm not positive.

I think at the very least, a good start would be to reduce the size of all cloaking items by 1 space. While not the same as making them all the same as weapons, it would help a little without allowing you to easily hide a whole planet (and getting no resources).

honestly i dont think a 'satellite' should take up any planetary space, because its not on the planet, but i see why it does. i just think that instead of pushing attack/defense buildings all planetary defensive structures should scale. i still dont plan on installing defensive or attack structures as the first wave of defense because then you still have to worry about people scanning your planets. at least if the cloaking modules scaled like the minefields, then people would actually have a chance hiding their planets from the level 300+ players.

My thoughts:

Scrap the whole "all planetary structures" and break it into "Production structures" aka.. same space as we have now.. and "Defensive structures"

This saves the whole debate over what space scaling should happen somewhat.. since productivity is never messed with by defensive structures.

What size the defensive structures spaces should get dependant on planetary level? Pass.. i don't know xD

Yeah, there's still really no chance of hiding it from them though; unless you're on their level you won't be able to compete with them, but with some attack and defense you can keep people off your planet even if they have scanned it. As long as you have weapons and defense research, or at least exotic barriers or anti-resistance bases, you can protect it.
