 Running out of Research

I am on the very last research tier and have 2-3 days left before it is completed. So what happens then?

I have already converted a large majority of my research planets to some other kind of production but that is time consuming and EXTREMELY expensive. I am down from 22000 to 16500 research points an hour.

Still, a lot of my planets do not have other resources worth converting to. Not to mention the billions I lost upgrading my research structures only to not be able to use them or have to change them

I know you are busy so I suggest just letting them stack infinitely. If a player completes all the research tiers, he should be able to store every research point he has earned without limit until you have time to make new research tiers.

from what i hear Dan has been really good about adding new tech. how many new tech items take the new Aidonium? i know of a couple already.

Dan is awesome about adding new tech but I finished the latest tiers rather quickly. Also some of the tech had a small increased benefit but a huge increase in costs and upkeep.

I would rather he take his time adding research and make it proportional to the effort and resources needed than just add something to keep us busy.

For example the Weapons Tree has 13 levels and has not yet jumped to Aidonium. The last tier costs 3600 Kurenite and 20.5 BILLION credits but only gives a +72 increase in attack power over the teir before it which only costs 500 Kurnite and 67.5 Million credits.

Thats an increase of 3100 kurenite and more than 20 BILLION credits! Thats about a 380% cost increase for a 20% power increase.

wow I'm no where close to you but as a economist their is no way I would go for it. I wouldn't even waste my research points on it.

Dan when you have some time (probably none if your still running/programing this game by yourself) please think of increasing artifacts, researchable items from an economic perspective given the economics of this game.

Maybe he is? Do you know how much money Kaos makes per day? I don't. I would imagine you hit a point in this game where you've maxed out all your planets, maxed out most of your stuff so what do you spend money on now? If it were me, it would be the next tier. Don't get me wrong, the 380% cost vs 20% power increase does seem off but maybe at that level it means less?

That is why I said within the economics of the game. Not being the developer I don't know the economics -- maybe the 'currency' of the game increases much greater than the research tree so 380% for 20% makes economic sense.

For the record I make about 12 Billion a day and the normal upkeep is about 8.2 Billion. New structures are 600,000,000 million credits (plus 200 million in minerals), colonizing a planet costs me about 2.5 billion. I make a lot of money but I pay a lot more bills.

Everytime I add a new module it increases my upkeep between 200,000,000 and 600,000,000 credits. Thats a huge jump for such a small return.

Some additional research tiers will be added before next weekend. We will start to roll out the holiday content soon so that will come first.

At this point in the tier structure, the costs will start to scale more linearly instead of exponentially, but they will still be very expensive.

How about some more scanners? I got to the end of that branch some time ago. It would be nice to research some better scanners and get some more good planets.

Dan just posted that scan tech will be advanced and that scan artifacts have improved.

Yea, I saw that. Great, now I can get more planets. 15% means 45 - 50 planets all by itself, plus about 50 purgers that I have used.

So Dan, how about just a way to store our research without penalty until you have time to add new research tiers?

Sorry to say Kaos, but as the game mechanics are implemented you would post about this issue every 2 weeks if not sooner. I don't see a permanent fix for the problem. And pardon me but if you would get what you ask (i.e. the means to store RP until the next research tier is implemented) you would post this 10 seconds after it would be implemented in a never ending circle. The very game is broken like that.
